Less than a year ago I bought a iec c9 compact Electra. It is in great shape. I put new filter hose exhaust filter and new bag. I have all original attachments you know the clear glittery tools. It's in excellent condition.
I got a c8 that was in bad shape. I gutted it painted it green and 50" cord, bag, filter, hose, motor basically total rebuild. It has a new hose. I just have generic tools.
I seen a TriStar cxl for $40 plus shipping. I offered$30 plus shipping and they accepted.
It's the 45th anniversary edition. Inside area where bag goes was built up calcium. It had a few paint scuffs on bumper and filter was caked in build up. The power nozzle they said was missing the belt. The cord has a few nicks. The power nozzle is rated 2.5 amps. The motor in power nozzle was replaced in 2011. The belt was on brush roll.
The first issue I tackled was the dime pre motor filter. I took it apart and cleaned it so it breathes much better. I ordered a new filter insert for it. The power nozzle I took off the bottom plate. The plate had build up stuck around the brush roll and where hose connects to brush roll housing. I soaked scraped and cleaned the base plate. I turned in vacuum and power nozzle had a belt and worked perfectly. It has no exhaust cap. I popped out rivets and ordered a filter cap and a HEPA filter for it.
The cloth bag I vaccuumed clean then I washed it. It's now in like new condition.
The bottom plate screws threads were chipped off on the bottom. The screws made brush roll rattle and pop belt off. I replaced the screws and it runs like a champ.
I now have 3 pigs c9 yellow all original, c8 total rebuild, cxl with power nozzle.
I basically have to sell one. The c8 is painted green and doesn't appeal to everyone. The c9 is the one in going to sale. People want original and good shape. This vacuum has it all.
The cxl has more power than the others. I'm keeping it. I'm just wondering what a good price to sale it for would be.
I did a low ball bid on cxl and won it.
Pics 1-6 are cxl 7 is c8 after 8 is c8 before.9-11 are of c9.

Oh nice.

You even got one of the two tone models. I've always liked the look of those. It just looks nicer to me than the speckled ones. I'm guessing your Power Head is a flat belt model?

Black heart

The model is flat head model. I like the power nozzle quite a bit. The motor has a small wind down after shutting it off.
I'm not opening motor up until I put a few vacuums together.
The 2 tone is very nice looking.

I just got my first Compact/Tristar!

I don't know why I waited so long.. for the right opportunity to get a near mint one I guess.

Drove an hour each way to pick it up, and already ordered a new pre motor filter, post motor filter, new cloth inner bag holder and new hepa bags.

Also, couldn't resist photographing it!

It's soooo gorgeous.  Totally addictive little guy!
