Hey Guys.

I'm still slowly working on cleaning out my basement. These are the next machines to go. I was planning on just taking the cords and switches off them and trashing the rest but I thought I'd post this here first. If anyone wants any parts off these machines please let me know within the week. I'll take them off - you just pay what ever the mail cost is. Better than just putting them in the garbage. Hopefully someone needs pieces to fix their own. IF you do please email me at [email protected]
Doug

Hey William:

Sorry but no idea what year it is. I really dont collect machines that were made past the 70's so havnt kept up on what was out.

Hey David:

You realize that I'm in Canada. To ship all of these would cost a fortune.

oh

oh well how much would it be in us dallors i have money. but i am only 11 could i pay you in cash? because i don't have a credit card!

Re: Bissell

That Bissell would be from the mid 90s or so. It's very similar to the Singer in my 1994 Montgomery Ward Dreambook.

RE: Eureka Ultra

Hey Doug Id love the eureka ultra, I'm also kinda interested in the regina housekeeper plus. The blue one was the first vac I ever baught as a kid

I knew I shouldn't have clicked on this thread!

Now I'm really annoyed I don't have the money to buy them all from you!

This is going off topic a bit, but I was wondering what the point of a Self Propelled Vacuum Cleaner was ?

I've got a Self Propelled Lawn Mower, but that is necessary, as a Lawn Mower has an engine in it and weighs quite a lot, but a Vacuum Cleaner doesn't weigh that much!

Hey Jamie:

The self propelled were for people that were too lazy to push it on their own ;)

Or, in the case of the new Kirbys, for vacuums that were too heavy (Those machines make a good boat anchor)

Ok guys - machines that are already gone:

Kenmore, Regina Housekeeper Plus (blue), Eureka Victory, Eureka Boss Light and Eureka Ultra.

Anyone need parts from any of the others or should I trash them?

Doug

Jamie,

The self-propulsion feature on some upright vacuum cleaners is quite useful in many situations.

Firstly, it seems that in North America we have a larger proportion of homes with larger rooms than is usually found in Europe. So you often have homes with large tracts of broadloom - though the current trend is more toward hard-wood floors. It helps even the strongest of vac-users to use a self-propelled cleaner because it makes it easier and less tiresome to vacuum large carpeted rooms. This difference in house size is also the reason North Americans can buy vacs that have wider cleaning heads - like Eureka's "Wide Track" uprights, or even the Hoover Tempo Widepath with the 14" cleaning head. As a Canadian, I am always intrigued by the narrow heads on so many European upright vacs.

The self-propulsion feature is also very useful for seniors and those who are "differently-abled" - it makes pushing a 23-pound full size upright less of a struggle. Though it seems that many experts have preferred Eureka's rear-wheel self-propulsion system, I only have personal experience with the highly-rated Hoover Self-Propelled WindTunnel Ultra. It was a great vac to clean my parents' large carpeted living room because the vac practically drove itself!! I could even manoeuver the vac with only a few fingers on the handle!

I guess Canadian/American Vacuum Cleaners must weigh a lot more than our cleaners!

Even the heaviest of my cleaners (1994 HOOVER Turbopower) can be pulled backwards and forwards with only a single finger around the handle.
