Trash vacs

I got a Hoover recently, late model something-or-other. Bagless, obviously. But it's got a cord winder and a foot pedal that disengages the brushroll belt. Thought that was pretty neat. Dumped because the filter was clogged, obviously. Works nicely.

My mom started talking about getting a new vac. I told her to test drive the Hoover. It is genuinely a nice example of modern vacs. She tried it. Says she doesn't want a new vac anymore, wants to keep her old one.

Most people

Got new vacuums during the first few months of the pandemic. Everyone used the stay in time to clean out closets and deep clean their homes and I saw a LOT of vacs on the trash them as I would go walking daily for miles because I just HAD to get out of the house. So…consequently the people who periodically replace their vacs “just for the heck of it” pretty much did so back then. It’s been almost two years since then and in another three years or so those replacement vacs will be getting long in the tooth to those people and they’ll start replacing them with new ones again.

Today driving back from running errands I saw two uprights on the side of the road together. One was a red and black Hoover bagless of some kind, newer. The other was lying on the ground, didn't get a good look at what kind. But also newer.

Today saw a newer style red/black Shop Vac on the side of the road near me. Slowed down and looked, hose but no attachments, no wheels on it, didn't get it. Figured the motor was dead.

Well, last night I started having second thoughts on that Shark. I would not actually buy a Shark new, to me they aren't worth it. But I remembered we had a Shark Rotator at work and I used to like using it to clean my office.

So I decided if it was still there today, I'd get it. I really didn't expect it to be, and it rained a bit last night, but not much.

Well, as I pulled up, I found it was still there. But not only was it a Shark, but I saw an electric hose handle attached to a chrome wand.

As I got closer I realized it was a Rainbow SE!! So I immediately got out and grabbed both. Though dirty and damp, they seemed to be in good condition and I think should clean up fine.

Kind of ironic that we had both a Shark Rotator at work, and now have a Rainbow SE, and I find both kinds of vacuums at the same house in the trash. LOL

Also kind of glad I didn't pick up that Shark yesterday, as I would have missed that Rainbow. I'm almost certain it was NOT there yesterday.
