THIS IS A WARNING:

I am posting this to every group that I am a part of!!!

I am an Admin for a Facebook vacuum group and I have just learned of another transaction where product was not sent and funds were sent.

Buyer: You must send FULL AGREED UPON AMOUNT for shipping and product in appropriate form. Protect yourself-- PayPal is highly recommended or check from your bank--something traceable!! If check or money order make a copy for personal records of the check prior to mailing!! Copies are 10 cents a page usually at an office supply store.
Seller: You are under FULL LIABILITY to ship product once payment has been processed. Otherwise this is FRAUD!!! IF BUYER DOES NOT SEND ALL FUNDS AND TRANSACTION CANCELS YOU MUST REFUND BUYER FULL AMOUNT!!!

There are no exceptions to this rule!!! This issue arises way too much and I'm sick of it!!! If you are a fraud as stated above then I hope you end up behind all bars!! I know I will do everything in my power as a group Admin to urge a buyer to seek pressing full charges and get frauds off the street!!!

In most cases (other than high-ticket transactions such as real estate and vehicles), eBay requires all transactions be paid via PayPal or else with a credit card that is processed via PayPal.

If the seller fails to ship the merchandise purchased, the buyer can file a complaint with PayPal. It can be an aggravating and time-consuming process, but it does work.

If an item arrives damaged, the buyer can go through either eBay or the shipping company. Again, the wheels grind slowly but eventually you will get a reimbursement.

If a buyer fails to pay for an auction the seller can post a "non-pay" complaint. If a buyer accumulates a number of them then s/he can be expelled from eBay. Something I don't think is fair to sellers is that they can't leave negative feedback for buyers. This is a one-sided process and it fails to protect future sellers who may be the unwitting victims of chronic non-payers.

Unfortunately in the cases I'm dealing with, these are direct buyer to seller transactions. No eBay to back them up. It's similar to this Supermarket posting forum. Some machines are eBay listings and some aren't.

I just tried to post some general advice for doing any sort of transaction.

Thanks for the info to help people out as well!

Well, I can certainly remember the day of eBay feedback wars....it wasn't pretty. You had psychotic sellers who were doing terrible things to innocent buyers who just paid in full for items and then received a rash of false accusations/retorts from sellers when the buyer complained about anything.  It was so bad that disgruntled buyers would wait out the 30 days to make a complaint and file one at the last....in the hopes the seller had no time to respond and therefore ruin the buyer's feedback rating.

eBay was a wretched place back then for the honorable buyer. I bought a pair of speakers once and told the guy I MIGHT be pasing through Denver and pick them up. When I realized that was not going to be possible, I emailed him. Too late to file a complaint, he kept the speakers and my money. He ignored my emails and never said a word. His seller name was Retrodenver.

When eBay changed the rules in their infinite wisdom, they cut out sellers being able to complain about buyers other than "no pay".  I know that hurt some honest sellers and coupled with eBay buying PayPal, they double charge the seller on fees now. A lot of sellers have left eBay, which is unfortunate...but the 'old' eBay was firmly stacked against the buyer with unscrupulous sellers.  Maybe they went too far on erring on the side of the buyer, but the old system was a mind field.

It's my understanding that if you use PayPal even in a private sales transaction, you are protected. But I've never worked a complaint in a private sale, just through eBay.
