So what I want to know is they want 160 something and I got a nice clean g4 with almost a complete attachment attachment set he said he cant do a straight trade but he can work with me how much should I give extra?

What's the condition of the Heritage II? Is it all shined up with a complete attachment set? If so, then it could be worth $160 or more because it is considered vintage which is over 30 years old. The G4 is still considered a contemporary vacuum and worth less.

just because it's considered vintage doesn't mean it's worth much. heritage II's are still a dime a dozen and even polished with basic attachments i wouldnt pay more than $40 for something like that. i paid $20 at a thrift store for mine

I totally agree with Doug, Will & Alphonse on this one. That dealer is crazy thinking he can get you to trade a newer Kirby G4 for a Heritage II AND get you to pay extra cash! At the most, he should be doing a straight-up trade.

Here's what I would do....for starters, if all you want the Heritage II for is so you can have a Kirby with attachments, then just buy a set of attachments for your G4. But if you really just have your heart set on a Heritage II & prefer it over the G4....go back to the dealer & tell him in no uncertain terms you think he's being unfair asking you to pay extra when he's getting a newer Kirby that's 10 years newer. Tell him that you will ONLY do a straight-up trade, or no deal. If he calls you on your bluff & doesn't give you the deal, then walk out & sell your G4 on Craigslist, Kijiji or Ebay. Then go buy yourself a Heritage II, & then go back to the dealer & tell him you got a Kirby elsewhere & maybe next time he ought to re-think how he negotiates with customers, & that's why he lost a sale.
