Just figured maybe bring this up? My fingers dont work so good to take them apart anymore and the blower/ squirrel cages get nasty with dust and hair,so I have found a short cut to cleaning them out for the year? Leaf blower backwards to the air flow sitting at the back door to the outside, wow the crap just flies for a minute or two, seems to work for me, hope it helps someone else! David.

I've done the same using an air compressor.  Works wonders to remove the vast majority of the crud.

I USED to do it with my Kirby!

I had found a tower fan BRAND NEW in the trash! It was fine, then it fell and broke some blades in the fan! Eventually it kept falling, broke the base in half, and the motor went out! Meanwhile, the Western Auto fan is going strong, and had been going strong for the past 40 years!

Set my Kirby up as a blower-one of my "vintage" Lakewood fans was getting dust on its propeller blades-just set it out on the porch-Kirby with hose as a blower or "air conpressor" blew the dust right out!!and outside.
