What year about is the Hoover picture from? I am guess about 72 since I see the 1020, the vac I grew up with.
I know we discussed this before,but who made Hoover's small appliance line? From what I can figure. the mixer looks like an Oster,the can openers look like Rivals,and the percolator a Presto.How about the rest? Did Hoover make any of them?

I was going to say that I didn't know Hoover made full size washers/dryers for the N. America market.

Hoover DID sell

Full sized washers in the US, they were Blackstones re badged as Hoover.

Some of the small appliances were actually

made BY Hoover, some were re badge. I have that framed photo in my home. Can you imagine standing in that room with all of those things? That photo was from a stockholders'report... I forget the exact date. Tom A.will know. I'll ask him. It had to be very early 70s.given the models depicted.

Also, it's true:

we couldn't buy a top loading washer around here. WE only saw the apartment "Portable" ones. I stood in the room where they were made with Tom A.

I'm pretty sure it's 1967 or 1968 - that's the model 3600 Floor A Matic, which was the first; also the 1120 Dial A Matic (orange and brown) is pictured, and was, I have heard, the 'unofficial' 60th Anniversary machine for the company (which would have been 1968). The model 1060 also has the earlier bag - dark brown with the larger HOOVER letters on it.

I thought somebody told me a long while back that the full size Hoover top loaders were re-badged Norge? No? I think I know who, but I wouldn't dare say.

I noticed there was no power-drive Dial-A-Matic. And why only one Constellation? Wouldn't the 858 be from the same time? It would be neat to go back and see the Hoover factory back in the heyday!

A top load Hoover set, there is a set in Roanoke Va for sale, Robert Perdue has them, I never saw them in NC but they were sold in some areas.

The Power Drive DAM didn't debut until 1969, if I recall correctly; and the 858 Constellation may not have been introduced yet. I don't recall if the 858 replaced the 843, or if they were sold consecutively.

Well, here it is.

That photo was from the 1967 Annual Report. The "pumpkin" Connie, model 858 isn't pictured because it hadn't come out yet. As far as the washers,  they were made by Blackstone, who went out of business, thus leaving Hoover w/o a washer manufacturer. There were only 2 models, the automatic washer was made from March 6, 1967 to Dec 31, 1970. The low cost (pictured( was $249.50. The Deluxe washer, same production dates, was $279.50.  They only had their apt size machines after that.  The dryer, same production dates,  Gas model was $189.50, while the electric was $169.50


 That beloved PUMPKIN Connie, model 858 was made from April 27, 1970 to Jan 24, 1975. That , and the "tilt" model 843 were made consecutively.


 


 I'm glad to be able to fill in the gaps.

Well, sadly

slim chance and fat chance mean the same thing.


 It is soooo important to put 'correct' info out there.... for not just Hoover,  but every make of vacuum.  How many times do we read misinformation, half thruths,  or just blatant lies. Poor Ann Haines herself personally corrected numerous details... only to be ignored. It then was  printed... making "new facts", which are still erroneous.


  If I 'm uncertain of something, I go to the ones who truly know. Luckily, I am in touch with those very people, for which, I'm truly grateful.
