Today I went to a Restore I have never been to and found a Kirby G3 for $7 so being a Kirby lover I bought it. Then I went to a vacuum store I have never been to that is located in Davidson NC. They are very nice people. They gave me two Electrolux Canisters. Could you guys give me some insight on these Electrolux canisters being that I don't know much about them. One of them runs pretty good and it has its hose and power nozzle the other one doesn't sound that great and the cord reel doesn't work and doesn't have any thing else with it.

Cordwinder needs oil.

The cordwinder needs to be oiled. It most likely has rusted from the humidity of someones basement or something. It might also be that something is cought in the winder. take it apart. there should be 3 screws. You are missing attachment. missing a dusting brush, upholstery tool, wands, crevice tool, and the 2 rug nozzles.

Quite a nice haul!

In a very worst case scenario, the lesser of the two Gs can be a parts donor for the other one. I see the hose and attachments for the Kirby but did it have the regular nozzle?

Well...

The Kirby didn't come with the nozzle but that is is easy to source and how did you know I have another G3? Thanks for the information everyone.

I have an Electrolux G that I bought refurb'd from Electrolux more than 20 years ago. I took it back 2 years ago because the beater kept going off and they insisted that I return the entire thing. I believe they stole the good motor because when I got it back it was noisy and bad. I had to buy another and they are just not available which is why they're giving away the cleaners.

The same motors are not commercially available that I know of. They may have new motors that retro-fit, but they are nothing like the in-house motors Lux made in Connecticut for the G. However, always OE motors on eBay if you can test armatures, oil/replace bearings and replace brushes. Just stay away from old motors coming from high humidity areas/basements if you can.

I just bought a beautiful, rewound armature for a Super J....can't wait to try it. Brushes were like $12ea...eeek!

Love me the turquoise G's....couldn't have enough of them! Great find on the tan/bronze G's BTW....
