Brandon,

These were imported from England, and sold here (in the USA) from 1949 to 1983. 913 was the model # from 1949 through 1967. For 1968 it was changed to model 918, and then for 1979 it changed again to U7037, losing the headlight feature in the process.

This hunk of English iron was finally dropped in 1983.

Actually,

These units, model 91, was made HERE until 1960. Then, it became 913, from Perivale...from 1960- through 1969, with only a few changes. This info was retrieved from North Canton documents. The 7037, having the same shape, still had a light, but was covered in rubber. It's so easy to get all of this confused, I do it all the time. But, I just checked. This info is straight out of HOOVER's archives. Hope this helps.

Scratch That...

I meant that over in the U.K. and other European markets, the U7008 was their version of our U7037. The very last of those U7008s were given orange bags similar to their usage on the Conquest series offered on both sides of the Atlantic. Unlike our U7037, their U7008 actually has no light, nor did the later C1312.

Brandon - A question about the GE hand cleaner - does it have a model number somewhere on it? Some of them started with a "V", some did not......Thanks, John
