I found this old treasure at a thrift store today. It looked pretty sad. The hose had come unscrewed from the machine end cuff. Someone had taped it with blue painters tape thinking that the hose had split I guess. It was very dusty, but the inside was nearly spotless. The power nozzle was clogged wth red carpet fuzz. As you see, the it's a replacement plug, but the cord is flawless. She doesn't look too bad after the wipe down. I cleaned up the power nozzle and blew everything out with a leaf blower. I installed a Kirby HEPA bag. It fit very well. The air flow and suction are excellent, and it is super quiet. Overall, I think it was well worth $8.56.

Any information is welcome. I'm thinking it's probably from the late 1970s.
The top cover unscrews to reveal some sort of deflector. Should there be a foam filter under this?

Tolivac,
I considered buying Shop Vac bags, but just thought I would try something I already had. The Kirby bag is probably not big enough, but it works well for now.

I'm still wondering about if needs an exhaust filter. Also, is there a way to use the hose as a blower?

The blower outlet is under the deflector. And exhaust filter was available as an option for that machine, particularly when it was used inside to clean a clinic, a restaurant, a church, etc. The original disposable filter for that machine had elastic on it. If it down about halfway into the can, With the elastic going around the rim. The cloth filter sat in the clean side of the disposable filter, and the motor went on top. When you emptied it, and turned the Can upside down, The dirt would drop into the disposable filter, which would gather up and throw away. There was never a "bag" per se for the machine.

Thanks Tom

I understand how that bag set up would work now. I'm sure those bags are rare and hard to find now, so I'll just stick with my modification. It seems to work pretty well for now.

I see how the blower port works now. It just didn't look like the hose would fit, but it does.

I've included pics of the black baffle. Which way is correct?

CB

Good information above.I have some of the paper filters in a box somewhere.Yours looks much better than the few left. The better ones seem to come from churches with the worst from restaurants and fireplace/construction cleanup.
Baffle?-This does not look like part of the rare optional filter kit.The standard would only have the matching cover with locking nut attached.
A CB customer could pick and choose attachments that met their needs. In addition to Power Nozzle(3 wire for CB)and atts from Olympia there were wide floor and rug nozzles.
