Todays find: A Royal pot canister

I found this nice little Royal blue canister today at the thrift store. It's in remarkably good condition with only the tiniest little blemishes. The wheeled dolly is in pretty good shape as well. It wasn't until I got it home and was taking the picture that I noticed it had a plug in cord on the front for plugging in a power nozzle, you can barely see it in the pic right in front of the right front canister wheel. Now I need to find some paper bags because I don't like using the cloth shake out bags these come with. Anyone know what year it is, I haven't investigated it yet..

You can use GE Swivel Top bags. They'll stick out the side of the cover a bit, but work well. The bags for these cleaners are discontinued. Maybe someone has extra originals, but for everyday use, the GE bags are fine.

Joe, do you know what the little " metal tab lever" is on the back bottom, it sits beside some sort of port. When I pushed it down while running it seems to change the airflow somehow but I can't figure out really if it's doing anything?

Hose Release

If you mean the tab next to the blower port, that is to secure/release the hose when inserted into the blower port. At least that's how mine is. There is a release tab in the suction port as well, but it looks a little bit different than the blower one.

Mine needs a bag change and if I do it soon, I'll try and get pics of the process as I'll be using a GE bag as a replacement.

This is a great, quiet vacuum. As quiet as a Filter queen, which is almost the same machine except for the motor position. I think Royal made the Filter Queens to Healthmore's specs, but the motors are similar if not identical in both Royal and the FQ's. Someone correct me here if I'm off track on this statement.

Thats a very classy vacuum. I love how quietly they run, and they're very powerful. I have a similar model with the power nozzle and I really like it. I think you will like yours too.

I didn't want to use this vac with only the cloth bag and no paper ones so I improvised and inserted a Filter Queen paper cone inside the cloth bag, folded up of the rim and it works quite well. Certainly doesn't affect the suction, this little machine has quite good suction.

These are nice cleaners. I've also seen them under the "Kingston" and "Sani-Way" names.
