My 1st Miele; I found this Miele Allervac today at the Habitat Restore and while a little more than I would normally pay and also that I said NO MORE VACS I had to take it. It's in remarkably nice condition unlike the black one they had their last month. It came with the power nozzle and the regular floor nozzle PLUS an extra non power hose and a few bags. It has the 500w to 1100w slider and is very quiet on low but not as quiet as I would have thought on high. THe power nozzle is very quiet. Ok, on my black dog hair encrusted carpet I'd give it a 4.5 out of 10, I was a disappointed in that regard and the dog hair tangles on the brushroll. I'd be more disappointed if I'd bought it new for what it cost new. In fact I would return it for that poor showing.

Not the usual sort of vacuum that gets casually donated to t

Oooo, that's purty, Pete. Very sexy shell shape on the S5 full size compared to the smaller S4 Miele Compact series.

Be interesting how it performs against the Samsung...

Nice find! I would not give my Meile overly high marks on deep rug either, its ok. Shorter carpet, works great. But then I do have the smaller power head.

Lucky find

Pete...makes you wonder why someone would donate it? I have one of similar vintage (can't think of the model) and it's not so great for cat hair.

Your beefcake avatar shows that you are in fighting shape!

apparantely I'm told the larger pn 236 has stiffer brushrolls but naturally they can't fit into this one, bummer.

Dave it's so similar almost a clone of the Samsung other than the trapezoid shape. The Samsung on high iirc is a little quieter too.

In my pic above you can see the black dog hair coating the green areas of the rug.. it takes about 10 passovers in the same spot to get it off. The rug is nylon and is very thin.. sort of indoor/outdoor thin, not plush at all.

The Miele you purchased is part of the S400 series.

This series were amongst the last to use Ametek Lamb motors. Those motors are louder and slightly less powerful than the two-stage motors Miele manufactured themselves to replace them.

Your machine would accept the SEB234 / SEB236 powernozzle. The only difference being that the 234 includes the cable that plugs into PH quick release and straps to the wand for the external connection on your SES105 hose.

Enjoy your new Miele!

I saw the prices on those 234/236 nozzles.. I don't love it that much LOL Shame really when all it needs is a stiffer replacement brushroll, not the full meal deal.
