This is from a posting in the Vacuum Collectors Club on facebook, posted by Daniel K Anderson. Saying that this Aerus Guardian Platinum is to be introduced in January. I assume replacing the current model. I thought I would share.

To be Introduced in January

It looks JUST like the "Intelligence" from Lux but with the TriStar hose and power nozzle. I was hoping they would use the braided hose like the Intelligence.
Anything would be an improvement over what they are offering now. I HOPE it is quiet!
Also hope it has an improved power nozzle and filtration. It looks good in the picture!

I like the look!

I like that look but i see no speed switch nor power switch on the handle that is kind of a let down considering it's a premium end vacuum, I know the local lux dealer prefers to sell the guardian over the ultra for those very reasons

I see they are jumping on the Platinum bandwagon where you just make something black and gray and call it Platinum... of course it looks different than their current offerings, but I still prefer the original Guardian. I also immediately noticed the lack of a power switch/speed control on the handle, not to mention the lack of a quick release power nozzle (unless there's a hidden pedal that isn't obvious in the picture, that's possible).

I wonder what web site they got that from, because it's not on the Aerus web site and I'd like to read the features that they are boasting.

Is the shiny part on the canister plastic or metal? If it's just painted plastic, I'd hate to see one after a few years of use.

I also echo the people who hope for something quieter... at least the power nozzle.

Change is good

I have the Guardian Upright, I wonder if they will eventually be changing the entire line up of machines. The Aerus works great, however for the price I would expect them to have more features such as variable suction and be much quieter. Hopefully this new model will be an improvement, but its not on the website yet.

Aerus seems to not put much effort into the design and options in their vacuums; and the dealers who sell them love to rip you off. I think Miele makes a superior product with many features for the money.... they are very quiet. Also, there are more Miele dealers than Aerus in most parts of the country, so parts/supplies are easier to get.

I sure hope they use a different wand design-maybe something telescoping with just a hint of real metal. Those Aerus plastic wands are troublesome. Perhaps something like in the photo below. This is the Sauber. sold in Australia.

I agree

I don't like those plastic wands! And what's up with the shape and diameter of them?

They do seem to seal together well but some type of metal would be better and not that much weight would be added.

Yes...

... I think Aerus needs to produce something like that! They also need to grow the physical store locations and promote them better. Most people think the electrolux you see in Costo, Best Buy, Lowes, etc...are the originial high quality canister machines. For now, I find Miele & Sebo brands to be more readily available to the consumer.

Current Aerus products perform excellent in my opinion, but they need to be fine tuned at $799+ (it should be on par with Miele, because they are loosing lots of customers to Miele)

The New Aerus

If this new vacuum is priced like all the other Aerus products, it will be much to expensive. I agree with George, Miele makes a superior product that is more effiecient and at a much better price point.

In my opinion, if Aerus made this new vacuum similar to the "Intelligence", they will have a winner. Stay away from the ergonomic hose handles featured on the current line of Aerus vacuums. Offer options - non electric hose and turbo power head. Not everyone has wall to wall carpeting. Aerus needs to think like Miele. Offer the same vacuum with different features, options, and at varying price points. However, I do believe they will probably screw up the new design as Aerus no longer listens or cares about their consumers.

At one time, I was an afficianado of Electrolux. Not anymore. I now use a Miele vacuum in my home and it is far superior to any Aerus/Electrolux I have ever owned or used!!!!

A great day to all. Stay safe and stay well,

I own the previous gen to this machine manufactured by lux and to be honest its nothing to right home about, its good but is out cleaned by just about every medium to high end canister with a pn, miele, dyson, sebo Electrolux they all do a better job at a much better price.

I saw and tried out the new model and to be honest apart from a better designed wand set up it was just the same as the old machine.

To me its a sad day when yet another American company has choses not to design and build their own machine but to import one.

So this will be yet another vacuum company importing vacuum cleaners, I hope you all boycott it for the sake of manufacturing jobs in your country

Well said and the truth... Aerus does not listen to the customers and there is a lack of innovation. I have contacted Aerus twice about something relating to my vacuum--the response, "We will pass it along to our engineering department"

I does not appear they are a very proactive, progressive or innovative US vacuum cleaner manufacturer. Who ever owns this company has no clue; have they ever checked to see their competitors. Hello, wake up!

The Miele Callisto, Miele Upright s7, Sebo D4, Sebo Felix what all these competitors offer at a better price: quiter operation, telescoping wands, adjustable suction control, carpet height adjustment, better filter bags, crush proof hoses, HEPA/Sclass standard.

brushed alloy

The older model also has it and it looks terrible after a few years as it dents easily,I will post pics of teh older ones later they are not on my laptop.

I agree, Aerus did the same to me......My review and letter

I had the Lux Guardian Ultra and was very disappointed and wrote Aerus. Here is their reply.

Subject: Lux Guardian Ultra

Hi,

Just wanted you to know how I rated the Lux Guardian Ultra in the Consumer Reports Magazine. If you look back in your records, you will see that I am an Electrolux die hard fan, but you really do need to fix some major draw backs with this canister. The suction control on the hose handle is useless, see my review. For the price of this machine, it needs a variable speed motor, which would fix the suction control issue. The brush roll does not groom carpet well, it needs to have a stiffer brush. I actually took my power nozzle in to buy a stiffer brush roll and was told you only make this one now. At least give those of us who want a stiffer brush roll the choice of buying one! Lastly the noise from this machine is terrible. I know that you have a temporary fix in that there is something you can add to the exhaust port to dampen the noise, supposedly without affecting the air flow, but other vacuums, such as a Miele have sound dampeners built into the body of their units. I actually have an Electrolux 2100 model and I feel that it cleans better than your top of the line cleaner, for the above reasons. I got the 2100 at QVC for Three Hundred and some dollars as a Today's Special Value. With all that said, I do like the weight of the machine much better than the older Guardians. I like the hepa filter in the machine and not on top of it, but wish you could put the tool clip back on the exhaust port instead of the handle.

Just in case you don't have record retention that goes back to the 80's, here are the vacuums I have purchased from Electrolux/Aerus.

Electrolux Marquis

Electrolux Rene

Electrolux SR 6500 75th Anniversary

Aerus Lux Guardian Ultra

Electrolux Discovery III

Electrolux SR 2500

Electrolux Floor Pro Shampooer

I am still an Electrolux fan and hope that Aerus will continue the tradition of constantly producing Top of the line vacuum cleaners for years to come.

One more thing, I am in the Cincinnati/Middletown area and the Aerus dealer closed shop. Dave was great to deal with and kept me informed of new things to come. This area still needs a dealership in this area, please make that happen.

Sincerely,

Ralph D Mattingly

PS I also have one of the 1000 Commemorative Edition Electrolux's that were made for the sales people and no Dave did not help me get it, I purchased it from Ebay. It is # 20 of 1000. The last all metal's to be made.

Welcome Ralph -

Lux Guardian Ultra

By Bud from Middletown, OH on 9/10/2010

Pros:

Easy To Empty, Easy to Use, Lightweight

Cons:

Brush doesn't groom well, Noisy, Short Power Cord, Suction Control Useless

Best Uses:

Hardwood Floors, Pet Hair, Stairs, Tile Floors

Describe Yourself:

Frequent User

Primary use:

Personal

How long have you owned it:

More than six months

Bottom Line:

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I was one of the first in line to get this vacuum. The suction is too powerful not to have a better way to control the suction. When using the sidekick on my couch it actually stalls out due to too much suction, even using the suction control valve on the handle. This cleaner needs a variable speed motor which would take care of this problem. Other vacuums in this price range have variable speeds. The other bad problem with this machine is the noise level. On a positive note, you will never find an easier bag change bar none. The performance indicators on the machine are great. Thermal heating cutoff, no bag, change bag, and unit has electrical power. Until changes are made to correct the above, I would not recommend this vacuum and I have used this brand since the early 80's.
