It's fall and time to clean the garage floor. I love this Rainbowjet attachment. It anything showed me how my Rainbow does not lose airflow and suction,cleaning the dirty garage will do it. If I try and use a bagged machine,it clogs up in no time. You can tell by the sound of the motor tone. 


I use the dusting tools and fuller brush first and then wash the floor with the Rainbowjet. I did the 24x24 garage floor in less than 40 minutes and only had to empty the water basin 2 times and was it ever dirty.


The brush/squeegee is so easy to get under and around all the stuff on the floor and with the new longer electric hose and power cord I don't have to change plugs. 


Clean up is so fast. I just pick up some hot water and it cleans the wands,hose and it dries in a few seconds.

Rob, at the Convention on the first night Thursday we were treated to a guest presentor demonstrating the New Rainbow with the blue-lit water pan. Without going into great detail, Rick Jackson of Airflo & Associates Inc. of Maplewood MN certainly proved to my satisfaction that ABSOLUTELY NOTHING other than clean washed air exhausts from a Rainbow.

I resolved then and there to get out my rainbows to vacuum my mattress, mite-guard pad and Duvet from here on in at sheet change time.

Thanks Dave for posting the picture. I was using mine in the garage today and caught the attention of several people walking by the house. I think the lighted water basin caught their attention. I just wish I had really appreciated my Rainbow SE years ago.


I think what happened to me was because I had more than one vacuum I did not realize how much cleaner the house stayed by using the Rainbow exclusively. I would use my SE for several weeks and then change over to a dust blower. 


The new Rainbow has so many improvements that make it so much easier to use than my SE.


I still enjoy all the machines but they now are used in the basement. I have it down to a science. I can empty,rinse and put the Rainbow away in less than a minute. I DID wash the separator today after all the filth in the garage floor.


The new design of the dolly and the water pan are so much better than my old SE and the ONE electric hose is much easier to use.


It has spoiled me and now I can't stand a vacuum that smells or storing the filth in the closet. After I got the floor cleaned I kind of hated to pull the car in the garage!

Mike & I are overly anxious to get a new Rainbow. My aunt next door bought one, and she lets us use it occasionally. We have access to it just about whenever we need it, but it would still be much better to have one to call our own. Hopefully soon....

do u clean the separator and change water every room? I am asking because i cleaned my e2 fans and the fan have light dust is not that noticeable on camera. i wondering how yours looks like when u remove the separator.

Hey Rob-

Glad you're still liking your Rainbow. I'm still Jealous! I've been using mine the last week a lot. I still like to have a bagged canister to get out and run through the house everyday since I have two cats. But I like my Rainbow too much to be without it.

I still can't believe you were brave enough to take your E 2 apart to clean the fans! You should REALLY do a step by step tutorial on that : D. In the five years I've had my Rainbow, there have been a few times where I just "rinsed the separator" because it didn't look dirty at all. It's only when you get a white toothbrush to clean the separator that you can see that it actually needed cleaning. It only takes a minute to clean it. It must be a very slow buildup because if I clean it each time, the toothbrush isn't dirty. It's only if I go a few times without cleaning it. In my Manual, it actually says the separator is self-cleaning.....In a way.......It is in that the dirt doesn't stick to the separator, but dirt does get into those little grooves/fins.

Since I noticed that, I started cleaning mine every time I use it. It's definitely NOT as hard to clean as the PRE-E Series separators were. Those actually would get lint/dirt caught in them (at least from what I remember when my Grandma had her D3 and we used it in the 80s when I was little). Then again, we didn't change the water like we should. It was very thick when we were done vacuuming. I'm sure looking back that we would have qualified as Rainbow abusers. I'm sure the fans in that thing must have been atrocious.......BUT........In ran great for years

I have had my old Rainbow SE for over 18 years. Don't know about the motor fans but the exhaust has stayed as clean as new after all these years.


It seems to me that you should clean the separator more often when the Rainbow FIRST comes into the house. After use for several months,you will have removed a lot of the embedded dirt. I clean mine maybe every 2-3 times I use the machine.


I change the water ONE time for each floor or about every 30 minutes. The design of the new dolly and water basin are much easier than my old SE Rainbow.  


I DO wash the separator after doing a real filthy job like scrubbing the porch or garage floor. I know some Rainbow owners buy an extra separator and just pop it into the top rack of the dishwasher.  


I keep the water basin in the bathroom and just give it a quick rinse out after use. Like I said, I have it down to a science because I use my machine every day with a shedding cocker spaniel. No more bags,filters to buy or change and no more trips or expense to buy or hunt them down on the net,just clean air and no more dusing.


I am sure Mark takes better care of his machine than me. My last one lasted 18 years and this new one seems to be every bit as durable and well made so I am sure it will give me good service. 


One day it just dawned on me that I don't save dirty dishes,don't save dirty clothes in the closet, so way save dirt and filth from week to week in the closet.

Someone also made a good point to me a while back about that material that is under all carpeting (the backing I guess it's called); when you bend a piece of carpet scrap, that it creates sort of a dust. So I think a lot of it has to do with the brush roll and vacuum possible extracting some of that dust. I wonder if that dust is wettable?

Did you think your fans look dirty? I can't tell. Besides my SE that is 18 years old we also had a chrome top Rexair years ago at my store and it was really used hard and abused and just kept running fine, so I don't worry that much about dust in the fans. If I can't find any dust in  the exhaust after 18 years I figure it must be filtering pretty good. Never any "vacuums smell" after all these years.

oh ok. have u seen the 4qt basin for your rainbow? its totally different than last e2 4qt basin.

I did see the new 4 quart. I got an extra 2 quart basin so I can leave one on the main floor and the second upstairs. I really didn't see any need for the 4 quart pan. It makes the machine hard ot ift and the new Rainbvow Concentrates are designed to work with the 2 quart basin. 


I can clean the whole family room carpet with the new Aquamate and only empty the basin one time. Same with the Rainbowmate. You use so little solution with the Rainbowmate that for my uses (cleaning the screened porch or garage) it is not needed. I only had to dump the basin 2 times and I did the whole garage floor and it was very dirty.


I can see where it might come in handy for commercial or very large jobs. They sure changed the shape of the 4 quart basin. It looks like a better design and keeps the weight low to the floor.
