I came across this Electrolux 1521 this past weekend and picked it up for $9.95! It was pretty dirty but I managed to clean it up so its presentable now. Only some very minor dimples in the metal in a couple spots. The motor sounds very healthy and has great suction! The original woven vinyl hose that came with it however seems to no longer have the tight seal so it leaks air a bit. The rubber internally has probably deteriorated some. The power nozzle was also equally dirty but cleaned up fairly well. There doesn’t appear to be any name badging on this model, so is it a legacy or something else? I like the navy and sand coloring and think it is pretty striking together. I ordered a floor and rug combo tool so that should be here soon. I have plenty of the original Electrolux c-style bags for it. I do need to pick up some of the chrome wands for it. Attached a few pics as well.

Nice find...

...for less than ten bucks! That's the kind of deal it's hard to walk away from. I got a similar deal on a Diamond J a few years ago but its hose had been replaced with a generic one. I really like the color combination. I believe it's an UltraLux but the model name sticker appears to have come off (see photo linked below). It's definitely worth getting a good vinyl replacement hose if you don't already have one on hand.

@human. Yeah, I plan on picking up a replacement hose for this sometime soon. At first I thought this was an Ultralux too with the label missing, but did those have the upholstery tool and crevice tool clips on the handle like mine? I don’t think this one had a name badge on it as there is no trace whatsoever.

Great......

find! After the Diamond J I'm not familiar with the motors;where they were made or anything else about them.

If you have patience, dimples in metal body Elux's are pretty easy to take out. You can get a cheap set of auto body tools @Harbor Freight, tape the metal surfaces of the tools and gently taptaptaptaptaptap......

The sheet metal on those machines is fairly thin and flexible. While hammering the dents out with a ball peen hammer and a block of wood might work ok, you could also try massaging them out with paintless dent removal tools. Then again, you could just leave them in place as well-earned 'battle scars', which is what I do.

Thanks huskyvacs for identifying the machine. The grand marquis and legacy really look nearly identical, with the difference being the serial numbers!

@human.... yeah the dents are very minor so I’ll probably leave them alone. I vacuumed up some of the Oreck carpet crystals today to make it smell fresher. They’re my favorite brand of carpet freshener that really seems to get rid of any musty odors in older vacuums. Also the Oreck fresh air tablets for the vacuum bags.

It is an Ultralux, the model right after the Grand Marquise(more of a squared hood PN) and just prior to the Ultralux Lxi.( first model with a headlight) BTW, the elbow on the power nozzle is on backwards, the release lever is always to the right and the flat spot on the collar always goes in the back.

I have one as well, except my power nozzle looks different. It has the Sidekick and small tools as well, but did not come with a floor brush or extra wands for it - somebody snagged them before I bought it at Habitat!

Absolutely if that works for you. I've even shaped wood dowel rods and smoothed out the dents from the inside. Whatever gets you there. I was suggesting real auto dent removal tools, not just a ball peen hammer and a block of wood. They're cheap @HF and do wonders on soft metals.

Very nice

Hopefully you will enjoy the machine for many years to come. What a bargain! I almost bought a Legacy off craigslist locally for just $65..it had all original attachments and light use, but decided I have plenty for a long time.

Thanks Jo! I bought some metal wands today and was going to buy a new hose, but the local vac shop wanted $89 for an aftermarket electric hose. I like supporting local stores, but I couldn’t justify paying that price when the same item could be had for less than half that price online.

Some....

will wax poetic about aftermarket hoses. And they were fine going into the early 2000's....I bought a bunch of them. Since then they have all become Chinesium junk. The chroming flakes off, they don't fit Sidekicks properly, the end fittings get loose from use etc., etc. YMMV.

Aerus has the correct hoses, although they ain't cheap.

I am not sure how old it is but I have a Golden Jubilee Model L and it came with an aftermarket hose, and all it is is a hose with a rubber boot on the end and it is just press-fit into the hose outlet. It falls right out if you pull on it.
