I went to the thrift store today. They had 3 vacuums. A dirt devil beat to ish, a Bissell power force rough condition. The last was a Kirby g4.
I grabbed it went and plugged it in. If ran good. The carbon brushes sound short and some bearing noice.
I slightly wiped it down. I washed the bag twice it's in good shape. If I spent a half hour to 45 minutes I could have it all pretty.
It cost $15. It only had portable handle.
I attached pics. It's after I cleaned it a little and washed the bag.

Gearing up

Well you can't beat it for 15 bucks. +1. When you come across these with transmissions, are the gear boxes in decent shape? Just curious, because I don't hear that much about any problems on any of them, except that they are a pain to work on when you do.

Hey

I tried it out on the ground in thrift store and it only pushed itself in reverse. I took off the upright handle blew away the dust off transmission pedals and off where handle connects. I put on portable handle. I noticed the screw on transmission pedals was gone. I realigned the pedals to proper position. I then tried the transmission. It worked perfectly.
It had same vacuum shop sticker than serviced my first g4. They did something to the transmission work perfectly. The g4 I was testing the tech drive seemed like the vacuum shop did the same to this one.
If tech drive didn't work I wasn't buying it.
I can fix most things and replace things. Tech drive in a Kirby would sink alot of money into it. I could never get money out of it.
Yes everything runs good. I'm going to change carbon brushes and replace bearing behind the fan. I have both parts already.
