Vs Riccar Prima Power Team Premium Canister with Tandem Air Nozzle?

I had an interesting thread on the vacuum subreddit:


I wondered what this community thought? I'm actually leaning towards the sebo, though it's sad the powerhead doesn't have any lights, everything else is pretty compelling - really well thought out design and simple for fixing clogs etc - a log of what I liked in my Orecks. The downside is the weight, but it's a canister so I hope I can just roll it around mostly if I decide to "upgrade".

Honestly you can't go wrong with either of these canisters, both will clean very well. The Sebo power nozzle does not have a headlight which may or may not matter to you. I think the Sebo D series has a larger bag than the Prima since it's a larger canister. Again, I would have no problem suggesting either one of these.

The sebo D4 is one of the best kept industry secrets! ! !

That machine was its 40 foot electrical cord and see bows legendary reliability make it an awesome machine.
They do also make a compact version called the E3

@jp10558 You will find that SEBO being german-made is far more reliable then Riccar/Simplicity products.

Well I've got a Simplicity Wonder Tandem air premium....same thing really.

Sebo D4
Pros:
Longer cord (40ft vs 28ft)
Speed controls on the hose handle
Huge bags
Better bare floor cleaning
Tapered hose
stronger airflow 101.74 CFM at the hose vs 97.07 it's really not too big of a difference
Easy removable brushroll
Cons:
No headlight (since you mentioned that)
Brush on/off on the nozzle
Manual height adjustment requires you to bend down


Riccar Prima TAP/Simplicity Wonder Tap
Pros:
Better carpet cleaning due to superior agitation
10 year main unit warranty 5 year component
Rebuildable brushroll
No height adjustment to mess with
Headlight
Extremely lightweight on bare floors and rolls easier on carpeting
Uses Charcoal and hepa filtration simultaneously
Brush on/off on the hose handle
Optional mini power brush ($150) but worth it IMO
Metal wand
More suction about 90" vs 70" (I frankly don't think it matters though)
Cons:
Clunky tool caddy
Motor speed control on the main body
Bare floor tools only really clean moving them forward (this could be rectified with the purchase of a generic 35mm floor tool)
it rolls too easy on bare floors it's run into my cats water dish 2x now

Which do I prefer? The Riccar/Simplicity. In my mind the main function of a vacuum cleaner is carpet cleaning. The Riccar/Simplicity is probably the best canister i've used in terms of carpet cleaning. The included floor tools drives me nuts since they have a pad on the back they snowplow while dragging it back, but a 35mm floor tool fixes that issue. I also like that I don't really need to do anything but flip a switch to do bare floors the power nozzle will struggle with larger particles due to a low clearance but i find going over a transition raises it enough to get whatever was stuck against the front.

@blackheart - Thanks, but as I said, my main difference is how much less carpet I have. My Oreck XL upright is great for me on the remaining "large" carpet areas, though I can see either cannister being easier and getting "under" beds than the Oreck XL (lacks a swivel neck, but can lay flat "straight"). I'm actually hoping I can do easier "sweeping" if I get something new as that's the main limit on my cleaning my floors right now. I need to sweep, and do so with all the people and pets locked away till I can get that stuff in the dustpan. It's a bit of a chore. Then I can use the Oreck Orbiter I have to clean them with the cloth thing which is actually pretty easy.

I'm assuming the Sebo would clean as well as the Oreck upright on carpet, otherwise I'll just use the Oreck. I think the Iron Man is the main weakness, mostly because no real onboard tool storage and no real powerhead.

You can also get an adapter that will let you use 32 MM attachments with the Prima and Wondder machines, my favorite hard floor tools are the Wessel-werk turn and clean, D330, the Wessel-Werk RD285 and the side-winder hard floor brush. Another good Sebo model is the K3 though I think eventually the E series may replace the K series.

Adaptor included

Actually there's already a 35mm to 32mm adaptor included with the Prima/Wonder I just suggest a 35 mm so you don't have to fiddle with an adaptor.
