Does anyone know if the dates have been set yet for the vacuum convention in St. James Missouri for this year? Is it always a certain weekend, such as the second weekend in June or does it change each year? I wanted to ask so I could put in for the time off work as soon as possible.

It's always the second weekend in June, Thursday through Saturday. This year's dates are June 8, 9, and 10.

Hundreds of packages of obsolete bags, parts, and attachments to give away at the Convention this year. We'll also have a Barbeque on Saturday at the Museum for all to enjoy.

Great, so I would need to take off on the 8th and 9th. Any vacuums for sale this year or just parts? I might be interested in any hard floor brushes that are for sale.

Lots of machines either cheap or free. Frank M. is bringing a car full of trade-in's from the Kirby office. I know there's an Aerus Guardian Platinum, at least 10 Rainbow black with lighted water pan, Kirby Diamond (virtually unused). Lots of machines. Boxes of attachments you can go through and take what you want. I'm sure Luke will bring a car full to sell (his prices are very, very low).

Ok, got the time off work, assuming I can get transportation there and back since I can't drive because of a visual impairment, I should be there. Mainly interested in canisters since I'm not a fan of uprights. What time is the barbecue on Saturday? Should be an awesome convention for sure.

The barbecue will be for lunch about one o'clock. We will put long tables in the 1950s section. Lunch is no cost to the folks attending the convention.

Okay - so I'm really confused. I'm a newbie, so please give me a pass on this. "Convention" refers to the VCCC or the Vacuum Collectors Group event, or...both?

I might be able to attend something. Just trying to get me ducks in a row.

There's no name for the group of vacuum collectors who come to the Convention every year in St. James, Missouri at the Tacony Vacuum Museum. We are just 'vacuum collectors". It's not a 'club', there's no 'dues', no 'banquet', no 'board of directors', no 'president', and no fee to come to the convention. It's just a group of like minded collectors who enjoy getting together, sharing knowledge, and having a fantastic time.

No. We're actually having a barbeque (chicken and ribs and St. Louis Style Pork Steaks), Rachel Ray's recipe for potato salad, macaroni salad, beans, and cole slaw. Tacony provides the food - all ones has to provide is their own soda or tea.

what to bring this year

Last year was my first convention, it was awesome, collectors getting together, having a blast, and running all the different vacuums in the museum. I'm trying to decide what to bring this year, and I'm thinking about bringing my power nozzle collection, I have 9 or 10 of them, I will need to count, they all have universal hook ups, it would be interesting to hook them all up and try them on the different carpet types. I do have the new Centec CT23 which is designed for soft carpet, I wonder if there is any carpet in the museum that could put that nozzle to the test. Would be interesting to hook those nozzles up to the Central vacuum in the museum, or maybe pair them up with an older Kenmore or Hoover canister. What does everyone think, should I bring all of my power nozzles?

my list of power nozzles

So, here is the list. Sebo ET2, Lindhaus pb14 pro, that's the commercial model, Wessel Werk EBK340, Wessel Werk EBK360, Wessel Werk ebk280, Centec CT23, that one can clean regular or soft carpets, Centec CT10 which cleans rugs and polishes hard floors, The Ricccar universal power nozzle, guess I wouldn't need to bring that one, I'm sure there are plenty of those at the museum, I also have the GV power nozzle, I'm thinking that one is a China made nozzle, but it does have 6 height adjustments and a LED headlight, and then I have the power nozzle that came with my Metro canister vacuum, I think that one is similar to the Eureka Express or Dustcare PB11. That one and the Sebo are the only two nozzles that have a switch on the nozzle itself. Guess that makes 10 nozzles.

Awesome, would love to try them with some different cleaners, as long as the cleaner has a standard hose end and a two prong mini plug, it will work. Or, we can go a step further, I also have a 35 foot cord that plugs in to an outlet and the other end has a mini plug to attach to a power nozzle. Then we could hook them up to vacuums such as the Kenkarts, or, how about the sunbeam dual deluxe, or that Eureka canned ham that has the very nice motor sound. I wonder if any of those nozzles could outclean the volt, somehow I doubt it, but the comparison would be interesting. Not sure if I can carry all of this, but I would love to bring my barracuda central vacuum unit as well. Of course, it could never compete with Tom's two motor vacuflo, but this unit does have 144 CFM and 151 water lift. Will definitely bring the power nozzles though. I wonder if Rob from Pennsylvania is coming again this year, he loves power nozzle canister vacuums and I'm sure he would love to try some of those.

Rob Shore will be here with bells on. Everyone from last year has said they were coming, along with many new faces. Some of the new people are folks that came to the Vacuum Museum, were collectors (none knew about vacuumland), and got invited to the Convention. Others are long time friends who make the trip only once every several years. In any event, it will be our biggest convention ever. Evan Rogers and Adam Mercer are going to show off their respective collections of Kirbys and Central Vacs on Friday during the convention.

Yes I shall be there. I know the museum already has tons of vacuums so there will be lots of fun!

I had an absolute blast year. It was my first year going and it was wonderful to meet people in person that I communicate with on Facebook. The BBQ sounds awesome!! Last year Tom made the lunch with homemade Deviled Eggs, pulled pork sandwiches, potato salad, pasta salad, a buffet of other items and of course a wonderful selections of adult beverages including a great punch!

Mike, you can bring whatever power nozzles make you happy and you want to play with.I will say that the CenTec CT23, otherwise known as Panasonic Plush Pro nozzle would be neat one to try. I'm pretty sure Evan Rogers has Wessel Werk EBK 340 and 360 nozzles. He sells the EBK360. Your Lindhaus could be a neat one. Is that like the Stealth power head? They are a great power nozzle. The Miele SEB228 is a Wessel Werk EBK360 but some reason they removed the headlight.

I think it's similar to the stealth, but it's the commercial model so there are a few differences. The roller can be removed without tools, and the bottom is metal instead of plastic, that makes it a bit heavier, but the thing is built like a tank, and it has 10 height settings. I wonder if we could pair these up with any of the hoovers that you like, I know some of them had nonstandard hose ends or connectors, if nothing else, we could pair them up to the central vacuum that's in the museum. The CT10 is also a very interesting nozzle, and it really does work well on hard floors, while it can also clean carpets, it probably does not clean those as well as other power nozzles, the brush roll is very unique. Guess I will need to decide whether to stay at the super 8 in Rolla or the hotel in St. James this time, hopefully I can find transportation to and from the convention again since I don't drive, definitely looking forward to those self driving cars. From the testing I have done, the CT23 definitely works, hopefully we can find some carpet in the museum to test that nozzle. It has vents on the top and when the nozzle starts to seal too much, you can feel the vents pulling in air if you put your hand on the top of the nozzle. Would be interesting to compare the performance of the EBK340 and EBK360, I will bring them both so we can try that. I would think the 360 would clean better since it has a height adjustment. Even though the convention is two months away, already getting excited. I'm going to see if I can bring all 10 of the power nozzles, I think I have a way I can carry them.

The EBK 360 has a more powerful motor and overall just a better nozzle from the EBK340. I've used a few EBK340's they came on the Oreck DutchTech canisters, Bosch canisters, Hyla, ProAqua, very similar to Mieles SEB236, numerous central vacs and more.

The EBK360 I have only tried a couple of times. They are a GREAT nozzle. Very fun, very powerful, excellent agitation.

I have seen many videos and love the style of the Panasonic Plush Pro nozzle. I would love to try one of those.

A Hoover hose would power most of the the power nozzles if they had a pig tail cord. However, without an adapter, then none of them would fit the wand connection. Hoover had an exclusive design, which I absolutely love their attachments but it is an exclusive Hoover design that basically no other brand fits without the use of an adapter.

Hey Rob, I'll bring all my nozzles so if you want to have more time with the EBK360 you can do that, and we can take the CT23 for a good spin if we can find some thicker carpet, perhaps Tom might know if any of the rooms have some carpet that would work well with that nozzle. My EBK360 is interesting, a pigtail version of that nozzle is not very common, but the folks at Wessel Werk USA designed a nice cord for me that will work with any hose. All of my nozzles have pigtail cords on them. I remember in your previous posts you had said you have lots of trouble with the Sebo power nozzle on a D4, I'll bring that nozzle too, perhaps you can give it a try and see if it has the same problem you experienced on the D4. Sounds like we won't be able to pair the power nozzles with the hoovers. So we can use the central vacuum, perhaps some Kenmores. I wonder if there are any Eureka power team canisters in the museum and if so, if the plug and hose end are standard. I'm actually thinking of getting a Eureka express power nozzle as well, but not sure how good they are. I may pick up a volt while I'm there as well, the only thing that concerns me about that nozzle is if I would be able to change the belt without sight. Tacony really should have used a geared belt with that nozzle, I know the run time would have been shorter but I think it would have been worth it.

getting another power nozzle

So, I have decided to also get the Eureka Express power nozzle so I will bring that to the convention as well. Many on here seem to think it's a good power nozzle, although the technology seems very outdated, it uses a flat belt, and a regular light bulb for the headlight, but apparently it cleans very well. I know there have been vacuum competitions, but has there ever been a power nozzle competition? If not, we may have our first one this year.
