I found this Regina Electric Broom at a garage sale Friday. It didn't look as nice as it does now but I knew underneath all the dirt that the machine still had a lot of life left in her. I am sure it must be from the early 70's especially because of the color. It is a three speed model, now I am not sure why one would want three speeds on an electric broom but it is fun! This one is different than most I have seen and used over the years. It has an automatic adjusting nozzle. All of those I have used had either a dial you adjusted or on the early machines a simple felt pad you attached for bare floors. At any rate, here is a picture of it.

Terry,

I am sure your Electrik broom is beautiful, too bad we can't see it since pics are unviewable fron Vintage Forum. Anyhow I cant wait until we can see them.
I have never seen an electrik broom with a self adjusting nozzle, I have only seen those with the rug pile dial. I also think three speeds is a bit much for an electrik broom, mine is a two spped and I feel that is pushing it, my aunt used to have a three speed, never used anything other than the first speed on it.

WHY!

Don't we have pictures?!!! I want to see all these post's pictures, but they do not work?! Why is this?

I can see the picture so I must be special.. LOL
It looks almost like a tartan and I've never seen that color or that auto nozzle.. Maybe it's one more near the end of the run. When did they stop making these things anyways. Anyone know?

Terry,
That looks like the one my aunt had except hers was blue and I don't think it had the auto adjusting nozzle, though I could be wrong. Hers was from the mid 80's

Terry,

I think you have the Vibra Beat nozzel on that...the two blue buttons active that...that is why there are no adjustments...my Aunt had that same machine.

I thought the same thing Morgan and it even says Air Pulse on each play button, I say play because they are just painted on, you can't push them or move them like the ones I remember. Maybe that part was "automatic" as well. I thought because of the oragne color it must be from the 70's. I hope that Pat checks this out as he has a good bit of knowledge on Regina Electric Brooms.

Great E-Broom Terry....

You did a very nice job cleaning it up. I know very little about these machines. I do remember my Mom having one around 1972. It could have been this color, or perhaps a little Salmonyish. (If that's a word). Enjoy!

I like the "play" buttons!

Story

I just saw a guy walking down the street today with one over his shoulder. I think he got it from a thrift store up the street. Looked great, I bet he is going to like it.

Re; Regina 3 speed..Electrikbroom

Terry,

I just checked my Service Merchandise catalog tha was current in 1979-80, and that was their second TOL model behind the model with the ElectriKBrush nozzle. Your machine was the deluxe three speed with the Pulse nozzle and retailed for $59.95. The TOL Powerbrush one retailed for $79.95.

It's a great machine for sure, and was towards the end of the original run of sturdy Regina Electrikbrooms. They brought out the all plastic (no visible bag) models around 1986 or so. I do not remember seeing any offered in my area after 1994-95. They were offered for a time as the Oreck Electrikbroom as well....

Thanks all for the information. Rick, when I said orange now that you mention it, it really is more of a salmon color. Chad I remember Service Merchandise, there use to be many stores like that but they all seem to be gone now.

Rick, since your mom had one like this I think that it really must come and live with you!!!

Catalog Stores...

Yes....Service Merchandise, Best (not BestBuy), Century House, Ardans, Appliance City, Whitmark (mainly a great lakes staple), Aldens, Gambles-Skogmo, MontgomeryWards, Sears-Roebuck and more have all fallen by the wayside within the last 30 years or so; all to be replaced by a slew of deeper discount houses, Wal-Mart, and ostensibly the internet.

I also found your find in the Best 1978 Catalog also. So I would definitly date your machine 1978-1981-2 or so. I do remember that Meijers ( another great lakes staple) also carried this same model as well. I used to think that final series of electrikbroom was so awesome. Today all I have is a Electrikbrush Electricbroom from 1979=80 or so, an the first one which is in storage, so Im not sure if it's a model 1 or a model A or what have you!

Again great find...

Chad
