Not pictured: Some power nozzles, a set of GE tools from way back in the day, A Classic Omega power plant, a red Kirby Classic III(to replace the one I accidentally traded in with my old van)

AND a heavy duty grinder and stand that is going to become my new buffing station!

Life sucks and grinds in such a good way!

(And if you're wondering, that's the hassock for my Compact Anniversary edition the Eureka and the Lewyt are sitting on.)

Uhm...

It was in "canister mode" underneath a removable seat -- I think. When I removed some various stuff, I forgot to grab it.

I used to own a janitorial/floor care company and would use it for various jobs, hence the reason it was in the van.

By the way...

Can anyone give me an idea of the date on that Eureka? The hose connector swivels 360 degrees -- but it's not a RotoVac...maybe the predecessor? It doesn't have the latches, instead two knob/screws on top that you loosen to get to the bag.

Any ideas?

Those are some great vacuums! I would like to get a stick vac for quick pick ups. How good are the Regina Electrik Brooms? I going to get a Hoover HandiVac. What brands of stick vacs do you guys like the best.

Believe it or not.......the Swiffer Vac!

If you need something for just bare floors, to me the biggest secret on the market is the little green cordless Swiffer vac. My mom loves it!!!! She uses it twice a day practically. It is really manoueverable, and the combination of a vacuum plus the Swiffer cloth makes sure no floor dirt or dust stays behind. The soft Swiffer pads are excellent for delicate hard-wood floors since they do not scratch like some vacuum brushes might. It only costs about USD30.00 or in Canada $40.00. If you want a real high end machine, everyone raves about the Miele Stick vac with multiple nozzle options. But you are going to pay about $300 for that kind of stick vac.

I really like the Regina electrik broom, mine is a mid 70's one but I unfortunately broke it today, overall a great machine in either 2 or 3 speeds.
My aunt used to have a Hoover one from the late 80's which I also liked very much.

That is the eureka I had. When we mover to our "first"owned house I was 3 and it wes left in the basement.Im guessing it is from about 1949-53 ish. The house was built in 1948 and the people that lived there were the original owners whom didnt replace anything they didnt hve to lol. Also I had seen an ad in Good Housekeeping I belive with it,from 1950.

Hey John -

Your Eureka is dated approximately 1953. I believe the very first version was Ruby Red, followed by the one you have. Later, the top clamps became real clamps - latch-type. Yours are the earlier screw version. Enjoy! John L.
