Hey guys I haven't posted on this site for a while! I became a new home owner back in August and I moved in with my girlfriend. My main vacuum is my Kirby Heritage 2 that I restored back in high school. I have every attachment for that, but I was wondering if there a third party that made new Kirby hoses for a model 510. We have 4 pets that shed and I think I convinced my girlfriend to use the old Kirby. I need to convince her and her mom that bag less vacuums are garbage and this Kirby does that job better.

You

Have to buy a hose coupler and put it on a 1.25" hose and that's the only way possible.

Sam, you do realize that Kirby actually sells a new universal hose for the older models right? It's a black vinyl hose. Why not just contact a Kirby distributor and order one of those?

Not for nothing, but why would you be using a 510 with a hose? If anything, the suction on the Heritage II would be far superior. I used to have the mindset of using old because new stuff is junk. That was before I realized how many good vacuum manufacturers are still out there making quality products like Sebo and Miele.

It doesn't seem practical to use a vacuum that's almost 75 years old to do above floor cleaning. The mess and hassle of a shakeout bag combined with pet hair from 4 pets isn't worth it in the end.
