The worst looking Hoover Decade 80 for almost $600???!! CHECK THIS OUT

Ok, I am very confused. here is a Hoover Decade 80 for almost $600! What the hell! That is a ridiculous price. this machine is so fading from sun and i am 99% sure that this came from a smoking home. There are only three pictures of a person vacuuming the floor with it and they are asking $580. I don't know what the people think made that vacuum worth that much but i know that not how much is was old for new, not even close! I bet they will have that thing for sale for a while.

I just don't think people have an idea how much a vintage vacuum is worth. We get emails in our club account from the average person asking the value of their vintage vacuum quite frequently. For the most part the vac is something common, like a Kirby Classic for example.

Yes, I think the person who listed this Decade is nuts. But in the average person's defense how would the average person know the value of their vacuum? Unless they researched it online. Even then.

What is sad to me is when we get emails from people who want to sell or give away their parents or grandparents vacuum and in some cases it's obliviously sentimental to them. Because they mention it in the email. Usually, it's a common vac like a GE Swivel Top or convertible in very used condition. If the person doesn't want to throw it away or recycle the vac. Then, I don't understand why the person doesn't hold on to it as a secondary vac to clean out the car or something, If the vacuum is sentimental to them.

I remember the 500 Series Kirby that had chrome P trap for its handle.

Maybe 100 years from now this would be a fair price

when there's maybe less than a dozen surviving and running examples on the planet, but until then the Decade 80 is much newer and somewhat more common than, say, something like a S&F Sanitation System. It was produced 40 years ago, and was based on a solid platform (Convertible) which affords a decent survival rate, all things considered given attrition of time.

Some people treat eBay as some crappy attempt to get rich. It will be one of the things that will lead to eBay's demise, which is unfortunate, because there are decent sellers on the platform.

Here's another one that just sold. Looks to have been cobbled together and there's even an F&G conversion bag attached to this one. There appears to be a new hood and a metal fan.

I know the vacuum community sheds a lot of hate toward "F&G Conversions", but I have a feeling these were originally designed for use with a Hoover Type C bag and intended for use on a Convertible before someone got the idea to use it on a Kirby once the aftermarket couplers came into production.

They made F and G conversions for Hoovers? Awesome! Where can I find some?

The F & G bag would attach the same as the C type bag orginal to the machine would.
Both have the short tube in the bottom of the bag.

You just use the F & G disposable bag for the Eureka vacuum in place of the C type Hoover disposable bag.
