I wonder if this was made by Eureka. The attachments surely look Eureka of the period. I remember seeing something similar in a sewing machine store my Mother had to go into a few times when I was a kid. I always looked at the vacuums while she was busy getting whatever she needed, though right from the get go, I seemed to be more thrilled with the Electrolux’s than other brands.

Maybe that was because I liked cars too and the Electrolux canister was sort of shaped like a car. Who knows, I was a kid.

Yes this is the Canadian Viking rebadged Eureka - I have the Vibra-Beast but I refuse to use it - it’s probably one of the worst carpet tools ever made 😬 I grew up mainly around Electrolux’s and Eurekas, but like you the original Electrolux USA is my favorite brand ! Another beautiful classic Eureka! Made for the Timothy Eaton department store chain at Eureka’s “Onward Manufacturing” plant in Kitchener, Ontario - located between Toronto and Detroit (where Eureka was first established).

In fact, the Kitchener plant provided Eureka with some of the attachments sold in the USA - including floor brushes. If some of you look inside your classic Eureka “Floor and Wall Brush”, you’ll see “Made in Canada” embossed in the rubber.

Growing up in Montreal, Eaton’s was the place to go if I wanted to see the latest from Eureka - though they were all branded Viking. It was only in vacuum specialty shops that we were able to buy Eureka-branded Eurekas. Which is where Dad bought our blue Eureka Super Automatic 260 upright in 1960.

Enjoy your Viking, Keith! :-D

Hmm

Mojo mojo?
You were getting your groove back.
Austin powers would say " That's groovy baby"!
Yet another immaculate vacuum. The rubber doesn't even look worn.
Keep up the groove thing. I do look forward to seeing nice vacuums.

Very cool!

Very nice to see an Viking Empress 2! I myself have 2 Vikings. These both came from our own Doug Smith from Canada. Mine are essentially the Empress and the Mobilaire. I just love the details of these machines! On my Empress says “Superb” in front of the hose port and on the lid release on the Mobilaire there’s a little Viking ship in the middle of it.

Question

The canned hams filters they originally came with usually if original they crumble. Who makes the best filters for them.
Do they have any versions with power nozzles?
Those Vikings are sweet looking.
This is random but in the city I live in and the city I grew up in (Spanish fork and American Fork) have big auto dealerships owned by Doug Smith.
Thanks
Les

Yeah that Viba Beat thing was just a novelty mainly - it didn't actually work. It used the airflow to vibrate little metal bars with the idea it would beat the dirt loose. The only problem was it didn;t do anything the moment you put it to the upholstery. Not far off from the turbo tools that come with vacuums today.
