The very first bag less / Water trap portable vacuum ?

I would like to know who wrote this history.

If you scroll down you will see the claim is that in 1950 the first convertible line of upright vacuums were introduced. Kirby had been doing this with the Sanitation system as well as Hoover also had converters long before this. As well as Eureka, Apex and others.

I see in 1860 a man named Hess patented a carpet sweeper that used bellows to create suction/air flow and 2 water chambers to trap the dust and dirt. Could this possibly be the 1st bag less vacuum cleaner?????

Ah. He needs to check his facts. Upright vacuums that can be converted to above floor cleaning have been around long before 1950.

The Hoover 150

Had a plug in connector for the hose,,,IN the mid 30s!

Earlier hoover models used a pan converter from what I have seen in posted owners manuals. I believe back in the 20's if not even the later teens.

Steve, I would suggest Hoover used tools right from the beginning, with the first Model 0 back in 1908. If I recall correctly, I am almost certain in some of those ads for the Model 0 you can find on Google, they suggest cleaning tools are available as options at extra cost. If that's the case, even the Model 0 would have used a pan converter to attach a hose.

I do believe I have seen that as well. I'm not a Hoover expert. I am a died in the wool Kirby man and don't know every thing about that as well. Just well versed with the Kirby.
