The VCCC Convention 2022

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

Had a great time!

Thank you for allowing me the impromptu last second meetup. I had a great time with you all on Saturday and Sunday. I got the opportunity to meet many new faces in addition to re-visiting with some that I haven't seen in a while.

Sorry my camera didn't emerge but I look forward to seeing photos posted from many others.

Safe travels home to all, and have a great week ahead. Hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July next week as well!

Photos of club meeting

Hello all, this is my first official post here. I've been lurking in the shadows for a while.

After 200+ postings about the club meeting in Pennsylvania, I'm pretty sure we're all waiting with great anticipation to see some photos. I hope some of the attendees will post some!

Felicitations and Salutations,

Brad Morris,

I got into PA sat night around midnight and stayed with Sam Addison, when I got to the hotel Sunday morning, I was greeted by a few people who were familiar to me. Sat down, had breakfast and some wonderful conversation before saying goodbye to some of the people leaving. Afterwards we went to Chathams vac shop. Chuck was by far the sweetest person I have ever met, as soon as we walked in he said, “ just about everything is for sale just ask” I walked out with some goodies that I have been wanting for a long time and although I no longer collect I figured I’d add these to what I’m keeping. Some of the people I met were, Kenny Loveland, Chad Cunningham, Phillip Muller, Maverick and his wife Jess , Bill Kirby (who was so kind), Chris Moore, and there were a few more. I don’t remember names that well sadly. Among some of the familiar faces, was Joe Kassock, John Long, Rob Shore, Luke Gebhart. For the short period of time I was there it was calm, cool, collective and it seemed like everyone got along well and had some fun. I might go to the next one but I’m not sure depending on some things that are in the works, but! I am planning on possibly going out to another convention in MO in September depending on the same situation!
Here are some photos of what came home with me from Chucks store.

Chuck's store was great! I came home with a few good purchases. No vacs but various parts for uprights and canisters in my collection and for friends.

In terms of a room John, I wouldn't know if the hotel had vacancies or not. I was given offers of places to stay by others so didn't need to look into that. Thanks so much Kenny, Chad, Sam and others.

I enjoyed meeting many new faces, Liam and his family, Mike Pletcher, Phil Muller, Brett and many more.

Sorry I didn't make it to John's on Friday but I'm glad I could make it to Joe's on Saturday. Thanks so much for sharing your collection and tons of delicious pizza.

Passive Agressive

Sorry I feel I must interject here.

John, the passive-agressiveness from you is so far off the scale, it's overtly obvious you lack some introspection on this matter, and it comes off as childish. If in fact you truly enjoyed seeing everyone as you claim you did, perhaps you would cease alienating certain members due to petty personal issues. We share the same interest which is a rarity in itself, so treat people, including fellow members as you wish to be treated, be respectful, wish people well, and if you have nothing nice to say, perhaps it's best left unsaid.

Or in vacuum terms, change out that years-old old bag for a fresh one.

If you don't mind me asking, just exactly HOW was John Long coming off as passive aggressive in his postings on this thread? The way I read them, he was coming across as civil and polite. Nothing at all negative. And btw, last time I checked, just because we share the same hobby does NOT mean we have to befriend everyone....if John did have personal issues with another member here and chose to "alienate" them, as you put it, he is certainly entitled to it.

Furthermore, you are BRAND NEW on this site, and your first post is to criticize a long standing member and one helping run the VCCC? I know John actually, and he is extremely nice to talk to. Maybe you should learn to wait and get to know someone and their character before you pass judgment.

I think the one coming across as passive aggressive here is YOU. I have to question your true motives....you say you're from Ohio, yet your email address in your profile ends in .de, indicating your email was set up with a German service provider. Very suspicious indeed! I would be careful who you set up alliances with in this community. With comments like that, you're literally walking into a minefield and begging to make enemies.

Those are some terrific finds for your collection! That Electrolux Model T in particular....damn is that ever a find! Very mint condition.

If you don't mind me asking, how are you liking the new Riccar 25 upright? It looks nice, but there certainly has been a mixed bag of opinions on it and whether it's worth the money compared to some other makes, like Sebo.

John is very nice, no one denies this. He's an awesome dude from what I hear. I have collector friends as well. Bear in mind I just came here to look at photos which aren't up as of yet.

The comments about the hotel to the other member reek of passive aggressiveness. "Fortunate to have that generosity"? As if people aren't de facto generous? "I had nothing to do with your impromptu participation?" As if one needs prior permission? "You were lucky they had a vacant room for you" as opposed to"I'm happy to hear you found a place to stay?" These are all a bit snarky. Everyone is a tad passive aggressive, but this is off the charts. Why not be kind.....

And I've viewed this forum for over 7 years, and only recently decided to create an account. I do much appreciate all the knowledge I've gained from here over the years.

Well, there is a lot you are unaware of.

This is not going to be the place for me to name names. I will not want to go there or give more attention to some (more than 1) who'd crave the attention.
That hotel stuff only concerns a few people.
Yes, I, too, have aright to be upset when people say things about me. some not true.
Was I 'snarky'? Probably, yes. Am I perfect? No. I know my faults as, I hang out with myself a lot.
If you were not at the convention, you do not know the whole story. OR the backstory leading up to my 'snarkiness'.
For the record, Rob Shore and I have messaged each other. We have a very clear picture of our future.
This forum will not be the place to discuss. And, yes, although others took photos too, I have not gotten the time (for legit reasons) to post mine. Also, I will not be bullied/shamed into posting on a certain timeline. There are several nasty/snarky/mean-spirited comments from a few aimed at me. I'm not crying "poor victim". But, I may not be the pr**k I'm portrayed to be. If anyone would care to speak personally, live, feel free to phone me.
The next thread will be back on task.
Thanks, everyone.

Photos / Videos

I uploaded some pictures and videos captured by myself and other members to the club's website. I've read the comments on here and I feel these should be shared. It was a fun convention. We had about 35 members/guests a few members were only able to attend on Saturday.

It was great to meet you Matthew! See you next year in New Mexico.

Pictures?

It would be great if the Scranton convention attendees would post a few pictures. In any event, if you wait too long, people lose interest. If the Vccc wants to spark an interest with its members attending future conventions, like next year’s New Mexico convention, pictures of this past weekend‘s event should be posted in a timely manner.
This is the first convention I have missed, in 24 years.
