The vacuum cleaner in the movie, Rosemary's Baby,...when they open the closet door at the end of the hallway.....

Does anyone know what this machine is? Looks like it can be a Westinghouse or a GE?

Louis

Speaking of which, someone just told me that in the new Alvin and the Chipmunks movie, there's an Electrolux XXX that one of the Chipmunks gets sucked up into. He said it had a clear hose so you could see him go "fwoooping" by!

Hey Guys! I recently saw the remake of The Amityville Horror, and towards the start of the movie, you get a quick glimpse of a Hoover Constellation, I belive it's a model 82, sitting on a hardwood floor with the hose, wand, and floor brush attached. Also, CRL, if you look at the scene in National Lampoons Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase up in the attic, there's an E-lux XXX laying between the rafters. Later, Trg

That's so wierd -

I watched that movie earlier today, and I was wondering about that!! I don't recognise it at all...

Jack,

We gotta figure this one out! LOL!
Does anyone have any idea?

Louis

i havent seen the movie in quite a while, but im gonna guess Apex. if anyone knows better im open to correction.

btw, Rosemary's Baby, great movie! everyone should see it.

Sorry, Lou, I haven't seen that movie in 30 years. It scared me so much as a child I haven't been eager to watch it again!

Since everyone is relating vacuum sightings in movies, here is one I saw this week while watching the second Scooby Doo movie with Freddie Prinz, Jr. and Michelle Gellar-
When the crime-fighting team returns to their old childhood headquarters to come up with a plan to save Coolsville, the camera pans across the shack and under a workbench there is what appears to be a Hoover Constellation model 82, but it looks a very pale two tone green, instead of gray and dark blue. I thought "Huh, I wonder if that's a Canadian machine?" Sure enough in the credits it lists Vancouver as the filming location. Is there such a vac up in the north woods?

There is most definitely an Electrolux Model XXX in Alvin and the Chipmunks. It is a very late XXX or a Metropolitan rebuild as the skin over the top of the machine is blue.

Hoover Junior (only saw the white handle and blue bag) in the Pub's cellar in "Shawn of the Dead" :P

Burnt Offerings

I like the Kirby (early 500 series) you see Linda Black vacuuming the stairs with in the movie "Burnt Offerings." Looks like brand new.

also in national lampoons Christmas vacation you can see and upright in the attic when we walks around. You have to really look to catch it. I think it might be like an F&G Eureka. You can only the the handle. And in that Jim Carry movie where he doesn't know he in killer (not sure what it's called) you can see a late plastic Convertible in the basement.

The best vacuum moments at the movies

I think the best vacuum scenes are as followed

Mr. Mom where the man has the vacuum called Jaws vacuuming by itself. What is that thing?

The little Borrowers where he gets out that old Kirby and the little people get sucked to the floor boards.

The mouse and the Motorcycle where Ralph the mouse get's sucked up by an old (I think) Electrolux.

The first wives club when Goldie Hawn blows up the Hoover Elite.
And who could forget the brave little toaster. What a classic.

Last but not least and my favorite, Mrs Doubtfire and the dancing scene when he dances with the Hoover Elite to Aerosmith music.

Uncle Buck,

Munching on junk food and using a Hoover Innovation/Turbomasters hose to suck up the spillage on his clothes.

Also attempted to bugger up the washing machine LOL

Shaun of the Dead - In the basement was a Hotpoint 95 series "Next generation" washing machine just tucked behind a Pink Hoover 652 Senior.

and not really a film but heres a classic music moment,

Hoover 119 and Freddie

How About Little Giant?

The Abbott & Costello movie where Lou gets a job selling vacuum cleaners and the plot revolves around corruption in the sales orgnization. Probably my all-time favorite vacuum cleaner movie!
And does anyone remember "Bus Riley's Back In Town"? I think it came out in the mid-60's and if I remember right it starred Michael Parks (who later starred in "Then Came Bronson" on TV) and Ann-Margaret. Bus Riley returns to his hometown to restart his life after either being in prison or the service, and one of the first jobs he has after going home is selling vacuum cleaners that were called the "Atomic Way" and looked like a Kenmore Torpedo Tank or Kenkart.

Another John Waters!

in 'Desperate Living', Grizelda the maid uses a Convertible early on in the film.
