The vacuum basement is getting there

My childhood Lewyt!!!

The pink and gray Lewyt in the first and last photos is just like the one we had when I was little! It was the first vacuum cleaner I ever used. You didn't happen to pick it up in Raleigh, did you? Mom and Dad donated their Lewyt like that to the Vietnam veterans' thrift store in about 1996. I've never seen another one like it.

Yowsa...

That is an overwhelming collection sir! Congrats to you for having the energy and stamina to make it happen! I get to the point I can't even keep mine dusted.

Edgar, I have one of those pink/gray Lewyts as well, those must've been made after the heavier gray ones and before the big wheel models.

The uprights are

In the other building with the mixers, The pink Lewyt came from a big house in Myers Park , in Charlotte, it was a lower priced model made about the time of the Electronic, 59-69-61.

Wow. Just wow. Congratulations on a job well done!

Now that is a real treasure-trove of vacuum cleaner history! Charge $5 for admission and you’ll have some nice spare change in your pocket.

I’m still dying to see a solo-shot of that unique Eureka/Wards/JCPenney Princess with the front to back handle. The only time I’ve seen that design was a photo on a pack of bojack Style H bags. It looks like the very unique revised design sold by the Mexican Koblenz company. It’s another rare bird in your vacuum menagerie!

Front to back handle????

Im trying to figure out which one it is, I only have one Eureka Princess....Just wait until I get thru, I hauled 4 pickup loads of stuff today, mostly tool caddies, boxes of attachments etc, only a few vacuums left, but we are getting there!

Not to worry Hans...whenever you have time and after a well-deserved rest!!!

it was in one of your very first photos....on one of the higher shelves between two other canisters. Most square-shaped Eureka Princesses had the standard handle jutting out from the front edge of the cleaner. The one I am referring to has an odd, large handle on the very top of the unit - in front of the Tool Pak located toward the rear of the hood. Something tells me it may be a rebranded Eureka (Wards or Wizard or JCPenney).

Yes Brian

For some reason I drew a blank, That came from Fred Stachnick its got the cordwinder too, I wish I could find some of the genuine Eureka donout gaskets for the bag seal, those go bad and you can not get anything but the cheap foam ones which leak dust like a sifter!

Wouldn't it be cool to have the next Vacuum Collectors Convention in North Carolina instead of the Vacuum Cleaner Museum? Your collection is so amazing, I know all our friends will love it. I know time only moves forward, but how wonderful would it have been to have a collectors meeting like we used to have? When Clay and Mike and everyone could be there again. Maybe we can get Annette Dubner to come from Denver one day, she would love all your uprights.

Lol

Tom. You might have an idea I really hope to thin out the uprights. Maybe keep 20 or so. I hope we can have some kind of meeting here. I would love to get to cook for a crowd
