I was privileged to visit The Vac Shop in Elizabethton, TN this week. It was certainly all I thought it would be and more. Jim was eager to answer my queries, gave lots of advice I didn't even ask for, provided me with the part I needed, etc. And he's got vacs, vacs, and more vacs...Luxes, Luxes, and more Luxes! Electrolux, Hoover, GE, and the list goes on. Even has a giant Hoover upright vac that I managed to miss until it was pointed out to me - the things about 12' tall. My attention must have been diverted by all the other antique contraptions surrounding me. If you need vac/vac parts, I daresay he's got it.

Thanks, Jim!

Was great to meet you and your family and find I was familiar with 2 areas you haved lived in.When you need more and are nearby come on over!--Who's Next?!?!--Jimmy

Jimmy, your phone number is off the hook, did you vac shop # change? Been trying to get a hold of you to talk about the money order for the lux parts.

jmurray01, you may just have to take a long trip to see that 12' Hoover!:) Didn't think to take a picture.

Jimmy, it was nice meeting you also. We enjoyed stopping in. Thanks again for everything. Will definitely keep you in mind when down your way.

And to everybody else, it's worth stopping in at The Vac Shop.

Oh man!

I would LOVE to have one of those, especially that convertible elite!!!! The balloon wouldn't be bad either, but those giant Vacs...WOW is all I can say!

12 ft(more or less) Hoover-Doesn't work as earlier ones did.Is probably last of 'giants' from N Canton as it is the bagless with fold down handle.Otherwise known as 'Big Green Hoover'.---Will,New number is 423-297-6918,should be working properly.-Jimmy

Isn't that half the fun of collecting vacuum cleaners....the shock factor from non-collectors? Right now I have seven vacuum cleaners sitting in my office here at the bank and the looks I get from people who walk into my office....PRICELESS!

Jimmy, I totally agree with John....we need a good "show and tell" of the big green hoover! And I STILL want that Convertible Elite!!!! :-D

When you go see Jimmy!!

Trust me, you will need the smelling salts!! Just about every rare vacuum imaginable is there!!! Invincible,Spencer, and many other rare old machines, Be sure to go to the nearby Ridgewood Barbecue, its the BEST you will ever eat!!

John!

That is ONE of them. We saw the big "blue" convertible in North Canton. Thry took one of those 28s, painted it, and, put a Convertible hood on it. I feel that they should have left it alone, and, just made a new one. They DID make several models.
Dear Santa,
Skip the bow.

giant Hoovers

There was also a giant Constellation that may have been reworked into a giant Celebrity.(Sort of like a Chrysler show car could get paint and trim and still be the new show car a year later.)Anyone have pics.I don't.

Very worth it

You will be blown away. There are quite a few toy vacs, but most of what I saw appeared to be those 70s Eureka toys and the Dirt Devil MVP juniors that actually have suction. He has the big Hoover as well but it has been moved to the back of the newer store. Tons of Kirbies as well (some not pictured), oldest one there so far is a 508 with green bag.

There is A LOT there so I won't rule out the possibility, but all I saw toy wise were Eureka and Dirt Devil toys.
