So yesterday the almost son was over to help me, my hands are getting helpless. I needed to take apart and probably clean the heater/fan. He wanted something to blow with, I asked what/how? He said get me the old suckolux, that sob will unplug anything, always what I use. It has very strong pull, especially with the Perfect HEPA bags, I even have a Miele premotor filter on it, but it has a slim hose. Does it have all that much pull/ lift? Silverado, he and I found in a pawn shop 30 years ago. Suckolux came from him always calling it that. Cartoon I think.

Nice to hear, the advertisement for the day said it may be the last machine you buy or something. I had to replace the hose and breaker on the powehead after I got it, those many years ago, not a single mishap since. Their advertisement could be correct.

Thanks John, I hate it! Free from my brother, very scratchy synthetic it makes power drive models skip. I like the pattern, thistle in it like my couch, kind of speaks to my Scottish heritage. Grandma was half, the other portion Irish.

My most recent Electrolux acquisition, a little more than a year ago, was a Silverado. It had had a rough life and had been stripped of a few parts but I managed to bring it back from death's door last spring. It works pretty well, even though the cord winder doesn't retract all the way. I'll have to try and fix that one of these days.

Thanks David. I'll give that a try. With a little coaxing, I can usually get it to take in all but the last four feet or so of cord when it's sitting on its wheels.

A while back suggested powdering the cord with talcum powder, I used baby powder rubbing it the length of the cord. After a couple full length pull out and retract, it now goes all the way back in.Used to stop about 3-4ft. short of complete. Been two years, goes back in every time. Maybe I just lucked out, but worth a try.

The cord winder needs to be removed and CAREFULLY retightened to bring it back to the original tension.

That's easy enough.

I took my model F

in to a repair shop many moons ago and he said he wouldn't touch it. Having carried it all the way from my car in to his shop, I said it doesn't bite. He wasn't amused. He said you could get hurt working on the cord reel if you don't know what you're doing. Kind of why I brought it in for repair. So I skipped buying the bags and some other things and thanked him for his time. I later fixed it myself, wasn't as scary as I thought.
