Hi,

Is it true that the sound of a power nozzle motor, if you can be able to get a close listen to it, is sometimes akin to that of a sander motor?

I'd think the old Eureka Roto-Matic Power Team nozzle motors sound like sander motors.

I really found it strange that Kenmore sold a Power-Mate pn which was labelled "WhisperBelt"!!!! LOL! If you ever lift that thing off the carpet, the whining roar is deafening!

I think the motors sound like drill motors with the gearbox removed, being brushed with a decent cooling fan.... :)

It is misleading about that Whisperbelt thing. In the nozzles with the 5285 cogged belt, the only time the belt itself gets loud is when it starts to come apart and skip the teeth. The one thing that is benifical to the Whisperbelt is the fact that it's a serpentine type. Very realiable and hard to destroy. If you jam up a Serpentine roller, it usually stalls the motor and trips the mini-breaker. A cogged belt will often tear.
