Hi fellow vacuum enthusiasts!

I’m new to this forum but I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Mark and vacuum cleaners have been my passion for more than 30 years. I was former owner and CEO of Home Care Industries, Inc, which was the world’s largest manufacturer of vacuum cleaner bags, filters and accessories for before we sold the company in the late 90s. Home Care had production facilities in New Jersey, North Carolina and Toronto, Canada, with combined production output of more than 1.3 million units daily. Home Care served as the primary bag and filter supplier to every major vacuum cleaner manufacturer in North America including Hoover, Eureka, Dirt Devil, Bissell, Electrolux AB, Oreck, Kirby, Kenmore, Whirlpool, Panasonic, Sharp, and many others. The Home Care brand was the major after-market and private label supplier to Wal-Mart, Sears, Kmart, Target, Home Depot and many other large chain retailers. I invented the microfiltration disposable vacuum bag, the microfiltration reusable vacuum bag and electrostatic HEPA secondary and exhaust filters. Needless to say, I’m a total “filter nerd” and I have studied and developed technologies in meltblown polypropylene non-wovens, micro-glass HEPA filtration, ULPA filtration, and carbon filtration under the license of Exxon Mobil and TANDEC.

When I sold my business, I had a strong desire to jump back into the industry. Years later, I founded Soniclean vacuum cleaners. We make canister, handheld, and upright vacuum cleaners that are truly unique in the vacuum cleaner market.
We worked really hard to develop a new vacuum cleaner specifically designed for soft-style carpet. I would love to hear your opinions about the Soniclean Soft Carpet vacuum cleaner and I look forward to connecting with some like-minded vacuum cleaner enthusiasts.

I've never used one before and I don't really care about using one anyway but here are my concerns: Where is it made? Where can I get the parts at? Can this be easy to push on very high pile carpets? Does it feel very cheap and flimsy like an Oreck?

Those matter to me because I rather buy a high quality vacuum that would last a lot longer than any other vacuum on the market. And collectors here rather fix their own vacuum rather than to pay shipping and ship it back to the manufacturer to get fixed. I'm planning on getting high pile carpets for my own house and I'm trying to find the most powerful vacuum that can easily push on those type of carpets.

Based on the demos I have seen of the Soniclean, I was a little impressed on some of the agitation it has on it. I think this may be just as good as an Oreck and I think better than a Garry. I've used Tacony lightweights before such as Riccar/Simplicity and some Sanitaire lightweight models before, I think those are the best lightweight vacuums I have ever used and I don't think any other company would out clean those vacuums.

I think the biggest splash in the lightweight vacuum industry was on some of the Riccar or Simplicity models, they put on the lifetime kevlar belt, the hall sensor, and now they offer a cordless model! I rather buy those instead because not only they clean great but they made in the U.S., I can easily get parts for them, they are very easy to push on high pile carpets, and they feel very solid.

Also curious to see how a Soniclean would compare to a Kirby Avalir in cleaning ability. I realize the Soniclean has the advantage in the weight department, but how about cleaning ability? Would love to see a video of the two in action.

If I am not mistaking,  Isn't Sonic Clean owned by Oreck? 


 


I was thinking that when they Bankrupted  that Oreck bought the rights, and marketed them.  There just seems to be some similarities between the two.

Would like to see and try the vacuum-Any dealers stock them?Yes,do have concerns about servicing the machine.Prefer models like others here that they can service themselves-not having to send the machine out.If someone is forced to send the vacuum out-often these are "sent" to the curb instead for trash pickup.The vibrating plate sounds sort of interesting-believe there is a handheld matteress vacuum that has the vibrator plate.As a vacuum guy would be interesting to try one.I just wonder if the machine could compare to Kirbys,metal Royals,Tandem air machines,and so on-IE full sized heavy weight uprights.

They look like an interesting machine, i've kinda wanted to try one but I have enough vacuums as is. I see though that it has a CRI gold seal, that's promising.

I had the chance to try a SoniClean at the VDTA show in New Orleans about five years ago. It was nice, cleaned reasonably well, and seemed well made. The vibrator plate, to me, was so similar in thought and execution to the VibraBeat Eureka nozzle, as well as the "Pull-Vac Beater Brush" from the 1960's that Rainbow sold before the power nozzle. Not sure if it does much, seems kind of like the same gimmick.

Your machines look interesting but quite similar to that of the Oreck design!! Orecks typically don't clean well. How is the performance of your machine?

Also I looked at your canisters. I love canisters as they are the primary machine for not only my household but also both of my aunts and uncles along with my parents. However each of our households would only consider a unit with a full sized electric powered power nozzle. Do you plan on coming out with a model like that?
