I saw a few of these as well growing up in South Fla. My mother had a GE at one point and my relatives in NC owned a few of these ( Premier Brand ) with and without the PN.

I’m still looking for anyone to corroborate the existence of a single motor, clean-air upright from the mid 1970’s. It was sold under the Premier brand name. I remember that it was carried by Zayre’s department stores.

That's a sharp-looking Premier canister, Keith! So would you say G-E/Premier is your top vac brand? Do you know what year(s) it was manufactured? I'm impressed, once again, that you have a NIB vintage cleaner.
I only ever remember a couple Kirbys and a Kenmore in my family and relatives' homes, but somehow I got hooked to Electrolux. I do, though, have a few Kirbys both for sentimental reasons and design. I think their versatility and performance is incredible.

Luxlife, If you still live in the same community where the Zayre's store was located, I'd suggest perusing newspaper microfilms for advertisements at a public library. Some libraries have even transferred their film to computer, so that would be a simple matter of performing a term search.

I remember my grandmother saying the first vacuum she ever had was a GE round canister. She still had the attachments to it in a bin and they looked like the ones with yours. She might still have them.
Nice vacuum though. I've noticed some vacuums of that kind have that steel logo on them. I've seen it on Sunbeams too.

Btw, for some reason in the late '60s or early '70s, G-E dropped the term 'model' and went instead to 'product' and 'category'. I discovered that when searching for info on one of its percolators. Earlier, it appears that the two numbers were combined with the 'V' ('vacuum') number and a 'C' ('canister') number. (e.g. V11C13)
@ Paul : Thx Paul...no I would not consider GE or the Premier as being my top brand or first preference - I'm a die-hard Electrolux guy! However I like other brands too and the GE / Premier vacuum happened to be another vacuum of choice for my mom and other family members back in the mid 70s. Its good to mix it up and drive different machines from time to time. This machine was manufactured and sold by the Premier Electric CO back in 1978.

Not to get this thread off topic, but Paul since you speak about the model numbers do you know the answer to this:
I collect GE fans and I have noticed that some of them have a 4 digit number on them that is termed as a P.S. No.
Looking on eBay I have seen the same kind of numbers on other GE appliances, not sure on vacuums. But do you know if this is a date code?
I collect GE electronics also and they did use indeed a 4 digit date code, and these P.S. numbers look as if they could decode the same way. With electronics it is first number day of week, second number is the year and last two digits are week of the year.
Nobody I've asked seems to know and I've tried Google to no avail. I'd like to know though, it's so strange because only a few have the number on the sticker.

Your floor in the pic is vacuumed. Yet this vacuum looks NIB. I'm guessing you keep nice vacuums to the side and the #1 stunna vacuums are on display.
I like early premiers and hope to get one. I'm not a huge swivel top fan but this is newer and improved. I like the silver inlay then the yellow close to the color of my c9 compact.
It's a vacuum I'd envision someone rich in early 70's with shag carpet but not too thick. It comes across as a high end vacuum I like it. Great taste and display.

Your right on point my friend. I dont use my minty machines routinely - I have a few daily drivers that I use for the routine stuff-This machine as attractive as it is would be more like a step down unit for low maintenance cleaning of area rugs or flat bare surfaces. These vacs of yours look like new!!! Do you own a time machine?? You must go back and buy these new. I have seen some of your collection and they all look fab!! Your GE looks so nice and clean.
My gran used to own one. It was an avocado and chrome which I remember well.
Will be great to see what you get next.

@ Gary - Thanks for the kind compliments As for as collecting vacs I've been pretty fortunate- I take care of my machines and Im kinda picky too so that has helped But If I had a time machine , I would set the dial for sayyyy...1973 and then again for 1982 Ha Have a great day Gary

Soon hope to get some of my own pics of my prize lux Z62 on here in the near future.
I like the thought of going back to 1982. Great vacs in the shops and fantastic tunes on the radio also!! Used to love going to K mart and seeing the Convertibles and Eurekas.
