There was nothing Dyson could patent about his machine, other than his digital motor. The Shark Rocket and hoover cruise use regular, carbon brush motors, as does the Bissell version. I like how other companies are jumping on the bandwagon. That's what makes America great - competition. I would certainly be happy with a corded machine, like the hoover, as opposed to the short battery life of the Dyson.
