I took my Oreck air cleaner in to be repaired and look what followed me home! It is a beautiful combination of Brown and Maroon. This Oreck XL Patinum is NOTHING like any Oreck I have used before.
It is quiet, powerful on the carpet and it has a very nice finished look to the machine. Wonderful LED floor lights and its so easy to caryy upstairs. I NEVER thought I would say I liked an Oreck but this is a nice machine.
Has a very nice embossed Aluminum emblem on the bag at the top and another at the bottom. It has a changed brush roll and wheel placement from my Yellow XL Oreck.

Here is her bottom. Notice they moved the wheels to the rear so you can transport the machine on the back wheels. It has a wooden roller with real horsehair brushes.
I was very surprised at the details on the machine and the look of quality. Very different from my Oreck XL.
Has new type of outer bag and inner bag. I have never seen one like it. They call it Hepa Celoc Hypo Allergenic Filtering.

Brandon,
You can check their web site or QVC. They have all price ranges. This was the only one I was interested in because it is quiet, had better filtration and I liked the color and led lighting.
We have a beautiful Oreck store not far from my house. You can try all the machines out at the store. They are repairing my Oreck air cleaner. That is how I happened to see this model. It has a long cord and it is easy to push on my carpets.

Rob,

You will love that machine...I have the last model before the design change..it is my daily driver.

It cleans well, quiet, good filtration. Your model is different in design, but the main difference is there is no longer a filter on the back with the air freshner where the motor vent is loctated.

Happy Vacuuming!!!

Morgan

Rob, that is one nice looking machine! After using Morgan's Oreck at the convention last year as well as one that Greg had I have a whole new appreciation for them. Terry

The Oreck followed me home!

Thanks Morgan and Terry.
Morgan-The FIRST thing I thought about when I tried this machine out at the Oreck store was you and your earlier post!
I learned an important lesson with this machine-Don't judge a machine until you use it! I was amazed at how different this machine was from previous Orecks.
Who would have EVER imagined when I joined the club years ago that Hoover,Electrolux,Air-Way,Eureka and others would be gone as we knew them in America.
The machine has a very good look and feel.
It was great to go into a vac store and have people who knew the product and you could try the machines.

Rob, I too am becoming quite taken with the thoughtfulness and quality I see in your pictures of the Oreck XL. Something new, not just silly redesign for design's sake. Well, maybe the jodphur riding breeches bag poofs...and yet they look good and just right in that color combination. In manufacturing terms it does cost more per piece to cut bag shapes to provide those little bump-outs, because the bean counters will be seeing only waste material between patterns.

Nice machine. I'll take a closer look next time I'm around one.

Dave

So, I'm curious...are the motor and fans housed inside the attractive low profile PN base then shoots the debris up the hollow handle into the double bag?

Thanks for the other picture. It certainly does look sharp... and I'm glad it performs better than its predecessors! Does the switch turn the brush on and off or just change the motor speed?

Dave,
The motor and fan are in the base. The fan is close to the action (like the Kirby) so it very good air-flow when you go off the edge of the rug.
It has very simple design compared to my Dyson. Notice how the thick aluminum emblem on the bag matches the aluminum top section of the handle. I like the details of the machine.
The Dyson of course has more brute suction but the Oreck is so smooth and easy to use and seems to have very good air-flow at the rug. You may not be able to tell but the bag construction is very interesting with the two tone on the front matching the two tone treatment on the base.
Even the hand grip is color coordinated.
It has 2 speed switch. You to use the low setting for floors.
It really makes the carpet look nice without the "pathes and strips" so many of the newer machines leave.
