A few months ago, I rebuilt my Mom's Kirby Classic Omega. It's the one on the left. My plan then was to rebuild three Omegas -- one for each style bag. Well, I had the house all to myself and finally got around to number two today. She has a more simple corduroy bag.

With both in hand, it gave me a chance to test the effect of each bag on the vacuums. They have identical metal fans, so I think it was a test of equals. Subjectively, I would have to say that the patterned bag on my Mom's was harder to push. I don't know if it was because I had the brush roll adjusted differently, but I was thinking the plastic pattern woven into the bag would reduce it's power and make it easier to push. I'll have to experiment more with it. Here's another view of my new Omega Twin.

Some day, I'll find the infamous striped bag. When that happens, I guess I'll have to rebuild another Omega to triple the fun! LOL! I've been told that the striped bag clogged too quickly and was prone to blow off the Emtor.

WOW, beautiful job! Thank you for posting those. The Kirby Classic and Classic Omega are my top favorite Kirby's. I know some people think they are the ugliest, and granted, they arent very pretty all tarnished, trashed and dirty, but when they are rebuilt like new, and all shined up like this,,i think the brownish, goldish color with the chrome is beautiful. The dark blue and Chrome of the Kirby Tradition (when newly buffed and rebuilt) is equally as pretty, imho.
We had a neighbor in 1973/74 that had a brand new Omega,,i wished and wanted one so badly! I can still hear the "Kirby Roar" of the metal fan, if they were vacuuming with the windows open, you could hear it easily. They would ocasionally bring the Omega outside to vacuum the interior of their car with,so i would take a stroll down the side walk just to see the Omega,,i can still see that shiny new chrome in the sunlight,,was awsome. Made me want one even more!
