I picked up a wonderful dirt devil ultra MVP the other day for $50 now I usually never pay more than that for a machine and if I do it either better be rare or new. The lady I bought it from bought it new a few months ago on amazon to clean her dads house. He was going to a nursing home facility and she said that the machine was only used to clean that. She stated that it was too big for her home. When I got the machine it looked like it had been ridden hard and put away wet! After a half hour of cleaning and underneath all of the dust and paint scrapes the dirty dirt devil once again shines like new. The machine definitely does not have a lot of use on it as the motors are still spotless and the armatures still nice and gold. Now I have tried one of these only once and liked it but I also remember seeing them as a kid and thought that they were rather intriguing. Upon reading the forums on the ultra MVP I see that they have a very high CFM rating at the base due to the large diameter intake hose. It is a very good carpet cleaner and happens to groom extremely well. For those who have used these what’s your experience with them? I never thought I’d be saying this about a dirt devil nor would I be thinking that this was old enough to be in the vintage section. I L-O-V-E mine!

I was fortunate enough to find one for $20 at a local Salvation Army store last July. While mine certainly isn’t a brand new machine, it only needed new light bulbs in the headlights and a new belt, plus an overall clean-up, and then it was as good as new!

I have this model and it works great.

I got it for free as a neighbor bought it new just to clean up her apt. as she was moving cross country. She wanted to ensure that she got her cleaning deposit,300.00 back. Didn't want to haul it so she tossed it. 3 days old! So I rescued it. I only got to use it for a week as the part that holds the cleaner in the upright position, snapped partially, enough so that it would not stand on its own. I tried to get the part from shops but not available. I suspect the damage occurred when the previous owner literally tossed it into dumpster. The repair shop said that the part was too weak for the weight of the vacuum to begin with, they are kind of top heavy! So I just wanted to alert you to that, hopefully they fixed that in later models because it cleaned really well. I was cleaning at the home of some dear friends when I had to turn off the vacuum to go answer the front door. As I was heading to the door I heard a loud crash and glass breaking. It fell backwards and took a chunk out of the corner of the beveled glass 7/8" thick coffee table. I'm glad to say they had home owners insurance that covered the repair. Re-cutting and shaping cost 1200.00. So keep an eye on the part that I've described for wear from time to time! Also liked the caster wheels, great suction at the hose end.Sorry about the novel! Billy
