The New Kirby? ( NOT AVALIR )

WHen will the new model be released? I honestly hope the avalir isnt in production as long as the Sentria I. I was trying to find something that could be the next models name in some patent sites but cant find anything. Anyone have an idea what it will be called? And will they do a complete redesign? I honestly hope they move away from G Series and make a new Generation of kirby.

Yeah that'd be nice for them to move away from the G series to a new model for once.

I can't Wait for a new Kirby to come out. I just hope it's not just another colour change

Although it occupies a decidedly different place in its market, Kirby seems to take a 'VW Beetle' approach to model development; that is, more evolutionary than revolutionary. The present Avalir's design is not all that different from that of the G3, which was unveiled almost a quarter century ago. There have been a lot of subtle improvements over that time, many of which can be applied to a G3, but the design is fundamentally the same. That's definitely a hallmark of a successful design but it certainly makes it difficult for Kirby to compete against itself as the second hand market is now saturated with machines highly similar to the Avalir, priced at pennies on the dollar, compared with the newest model.

I was expecting a total redesign with the Avalir. With the centennial of Kirby in 2014 it just seemed to fit. It's definitely time for a completely new model. Kirby got 20 years out of the Classic line, they're going on 27 years with the Generation series.

I too thought a new redesign was coming with the Avalir. Kirby did use the Red and Black design on the Avalir, which was nice for the 100th and came out with a redesigned shampoo system, which I do feel does a nice job and keeps the picked up suds in the tray much better than the other G Series models. They also did much improvement on the brush roll and even offer several different ones to allow for the more delicate carpets, while keeping the stiffer brush rolls for those of us that like the nap to be brushed up to look like a new carpet again.

My first Kirby was a Classic, which was a model change back then. The brown trim and gold bag caught my eye when passing Kirby dealerships. Back then they were allowed to display the new model in their window. I finally stopped in and bought one, and yes they allowed me back then to purchase it in their store. They did however deliver it to me where I worked at the time. BNIB.

In the Kirby line, I have a model 505 refurbished by Kirby, but in a brown trim. I did buy a NOS original Kirby 505 bag off of someone here on the VCCC, but until I can get the black trim again, I will not put the NOS bag on it. I also have a Kirby D80 rebuilt by Kent Oyler all original trim color and the green replacement outer bag while Kirby still had them. When the model change didn't come on Kirby's 100th, I bought a Sentria II and then bought the Anniversary Model from a Kirby Distributor when it came out. Last but not least I have a Kirby G5 refurbished by Kirby and it is my favorite of all. It has the smoothest transmission of all the tech drive models and I believe that is due to the Kirby Rebuild Dept.

I have heard from a very reliable source that Kirby has at least two totally redesigned models in their Top Secret testing area of the factory. One supposedly has a hose that connects to the unit without taking off the floor nozzle.


 


These newly totally redesigned machines will not be released to the public anytime soon. The problem is that their performance for dirt removal in a carpet is well below the performance level of the current G series machine (Avalir). The rumor is that one of the new machines is a Bypass Air machine not Direct Air like all previous models. Another rumor has it that Kirby is also working on a Tandem Air design. Kirby refuses to release a new floor care system that is sub-par or has lower performance than the current G series models even if they have new features such as an on-board hose.


 


So until Kirby can produce a totally redesigned floor care system that performs at least as good as the later G series models (Sentria on up to Avalir) we will be stuck with new G series models that have new color schemes and minor performance improvements.


 


The problem is the current G series machines are just Too Good! Nothing can beat them when it comes to cleaning ability! It seems that the Kirby design team out did themselves when they invented the G3.

An emerald green color change would look great on the current series.......(I know the D80 was green, but it wasn't an emerald color.)

I have a Classic 1CR and several of the G Series, SentriaII, Avalir etc. The Classic cleans my carpet and raises the nap, but to me at that point in Kirby time, they had to much dead space to hold the brush roll in and therefore not real good at edge cleaning. They corrected this some with the G Series and have improved it as the model changes were released. These later ones especially have made much improvement in grooming and dirt removal. Changing where the brush tufts are placed on the brush roll and the stiffness of the bristles. Now they even have several brush rolls for people with delicate carpet to shag.....

Here we go again.

I for one see no need to change a design that has worked for over 90 years. If you don't like the design don't buy one. The same as the rest of us walk a way from todays plastic crap. It doesn't meet our needs.
