I'm just curious what everyone thinks of these new 3-in-1 combo tools that are now being offered by Sweden's Electrolux and the American Riccar/Simplicity company.

Now that I own an Electrolux Ultra Silencer Green, I see the wonders of the company's legendary upholstery nozzle with the adjustable wings. If the dusting brush side would have double the bristles, I'd also be a champion of that part of the tool as well!

My question is: How effective is the 3-in-1 tool when positioned in the "crevice tool" configuration? It would seem that having a crevice tool that is open on both sides would reduce the suction at the end of the tool, thus reducing cleaning performance. It also does not result in a very long tool which limits the reach of the suction end.

Any thoughts? See link below -

Hi Gary!

What I was thinking is that when you close the 2 wings on the upholstery nozzle side to create a "crevice tool", I don't believe the combination of both wings coming together creates an air-tight seal - there has to be some loss of suction all along the cracks where the two wings meet. I was wondering if people who had used the attachment as a crevice tool have found that it leaks suction all along the length of the wings. Unless the wings somehow snap together and create a strong seal. But I think the wings have bristles or lint-grabbing fabric along their lengths - so it must be impossible to make the tool airtight when the wings are closed together.

Brian :-)
