Thank you for the information although I am puzzled about what the Space Certification represents in terms of Aerus products. Does it denote the use of Lexan or some other material that was used by a space program? And which space program is it ... NASA, a privately-sponsored research project, an international endeavor, or what?

I also do not understand "Beyond by Aerus" as it doesn't appear to be a new product or product line--only new product packaging with a Space Certification label. I found the descriptions to be vague.

Here is a Youtube video that talks about Space Certification:

On closer examination i found that the Certified Space Technology is awarded by the Space Foundation. Here is the link to its website:

http://www.spacefoundation.org/

I also read on the Beyond by Aerus site that "proprietary Certified Space Technology used by the International Space Station" is used by Aerus. I'm still unclear, though, what that references. I'm thinking now that it might be the HEPA filtration, but that isn't stated plainly.

I wonder if Beyond Aerus is competitively-priced for those who need more comprehensive air, surface, and water purification systems? I don't see a huge need for such products for those without allergies or weak immune systems who take proper care of themselves and their environments, but the hotel/motel industry would sure benefit.

My Aerus Laundry Pro had the Space Certification seal on it. As explained to me, the space stations reuse water, so they can't have detergent or bleach to 'wash' clothes, so the Laundry Pro was developed using the space station's technology. I do know it works as claimed, and I do not buy any laundry products other than Shout for pre-treating stains.

What I cannot see is ANYONE buying all those expensive products at the same time from a door to door salesman.
How many people would have a need for all those different products at the same time.
I might need an air purifier or I might need a new vacuum but that would be a pretty hard sell to combine them into a package deal and I would imagine they will be in the high end.
Who now would even know the name Aerus and we do not even have a branch location.
I hope it works for them.

I'm of the opinion that people are trying to make their living spaces TOO hygienic these days. Humans were not intended to live in hermetically sealed, germ-free bubbles and we do harm to ourselves by trying to live like that. I think that not being exposed to enough dirt and germs and allergens on a regular basis actually serves to weaken our immune systems because we deny ourselves the opportunity to actually build up any resistance.

Case in point: I used to be mildly allergic to cats before I got one; now I'm not allergic to them at all because cat dander is a part of my living environment and I've built up a healthy tolerance to it.

It's a dirty world and to a certain extent, we need to embrace that.

Space technology is a good thing, but the seal only makes a connection to the space program; it doesn't necessarily speak to the advantages of a product's use on land. Instead, Aerus should be seeking endorsements from medical doctors who can confirm product claims of improving healthy environments along with approving them.

I agree that Beyond by Aerus goes beyond what is practical and beneficial for most individuals. After all, we are made from dirt!

On the other hand, from a financial standpoint, if Beyond means that my savings on the purchase of a package of Aerus products would be substantially beyond what I would pay for each item individually then I could at least see its monetary value to both residential and commercial consumers.

Here is the beginning of an ABC News report that made headlines last July. It corroborates the fact that we have become over-zealous in trying to avoid germs, bacteria, and other contaminants to our detriment. The full article can be found at: http://abcnews.go.com/Health/story?id=118140 .

Antibacterial Cleasers Can Hurt Immune System
July 17
A little more dirt might be just what the doctor ordered.

Repeated use of popular antibacterial soaps on children might actually contribute to the development of chronic diseases, according to Tufts University microbiologist Dr. Stuart Levy, who spoke today at the International Conference on Emerging Infectious Diseases in Atlanta.

The ingredients in soaps and cleansers intended to fight bacteria could promote the growth of drug-resistant “superbugs” that might otherwise be kept in check with little more than a vigorous scrub, Levy says.

Misguided Efforts

In fact, the efforts of humans to keep their bodies and the things they touch bacteria-free are misguided, Levy says.

“The vast majority of bacteria are out there serving a purpose for us. Helping our intestinal track mature, helping our immune system mature.”
