Thank you Rob
It was a pleasure, as always, hosting this year's Convention. As Charlie Watrous put it, "it was just like the old VCCC conventions".
Interestingly, the winners of the cleaning competition were Reggie with a Hoover Windtunnel (top of the line model), Adam tied with his Quadraflex Spirit, and Mike tied as well with a Drain Vac "Beast" and a Sebo wide power nozzle. Those three tied with only 3 grams left in the rug.
The Electrolux model G with PN-1 (and a brand new brush roll) left a lot of dirt. Worst was an early 1970's Kenmore PowerMate. For grins we tested a 1910 Royal straight suction upright and even it did better than the Kenmore.
The Air-Way Ultra Kleen and a Tri-Star MSG with the green-bristle brush roller tied with 4 grams left. Eureka power nozzles all left between 5 to 7 grams.
The three winners that tied each received $20. We had a raffle for NEW items. Brandon won the brand new in the box Regina cordless, Charlie W. won the Hoover One Power leaf blower, and ChicagoMike won a motor driven brush hand vac.
We made barbequed cheeseburgers, turkey as well as regular hot dogs, Bill Kirby's coleslaw, sweet and sour turkey meatballs, baked beans with mollassas and bacon, pasta salad, Mexican street corn, cakes, cookies and all kinds of sweets.
We had the most wonderful camera crew. Our director, cinematographer, sound, lighting and production crew were all wonderful. Can't wait to see how the director cuts the movie. I was on camera more than I was off of it. As they say in Hollywood "Sparkle Neely, Sparkle".
We gave away a ton of vacuums, and ChicagoMike now has my entire collection of vintage brush rolls and vintage cloth bags. If you need a very old brush roll, brush strips or cloth bag, contact him. Congrats to all the people who went home with something vintage from the 'free' pile.
