Another day, I posted a thread about the smaller turbo nozzle, but now, I'll talk about the larger one.

Some days after I bought the small turbo brush, I got a larger one for the carpets. It wasn't like the one you see in the picture, it was a model similar to the one numbered TK 284 from Wessel Werk but it was pale grey instead of black. I still didn't have the money for a cleaner with an electric nozzle so I decided to get a turbo brush and I thought the TK 284 would be a great addition. I was wrong.

When it was connected to my Dirt Devil canister wand and the vacuum was turned on, the brushrolls weren't spinnig and I didn't know why. What a shame for something made in Germany. So a few days later, I returned to the store with the nozzle, the canister and the hose so I could show the employees the problem.

The turbo head got replaced with the one in the picture and the new one had the brushrolls spinning. I don't know which company who made this thing nor the country it was made in but it did get rid of visible debris on the carpet.

And yet the WW TK286 is the similar one fitted to SEBO and Bosch vacuums and with a slightly different arrangement, the one also fitted to the Miele vacs where turbo brush air turbines are concerned. Only difference is, all of them have air outlet valves whereas the TK286 doesn't. I have a similar one that you have bought and its "made" by Hoover Europe, or rather, uses the same kind of design with similar visual clear/frosted front and a ribbed slider - goes under the name of "Grand Turbo" nozzle and its absolutely pathetic. It doesn't spin at all fast even with the air slider closed over.

Proof really that whilst they may all be German or Chinese, that not all turbo brushes are the same.

All in all, it does a decent job on the carpets although it looks like it has asthma when it cleans the carpet in the living room.

I do believe that a canister with a power nozzle would do a better job, like what the shop employee at Vac Shack in Ottawa told me, as I mentioned in another thread, however, my brother Vinnie (who live with me) told me that we're fine with the canister and the turbo brush we have now and shouldn't be in a hurry to get them replaced with a model with a motorized brushroll. Should I do as my brother suggests if I were to get enough money for a canister with a PN (without counting the amount I would need to pay for the rent)?

Stick with what you have. It sounds like it is doing a decent job. I like air turbine turbo brushes - they're far more convenient than electric ones and if one breaks, you can always buy another at cheap cost. They're also lighter to use in general. I've used main sized ones to clean stairs, to pick up the stubborn dirt off the velour type carpets often installed in the boot of a car, to even using outside to clean off welcome mats at the front and back door.
