My dad was doing a stroll around the local Arc thrift store when he saw them bring out a Kirby.

He ran across the store thinking it'd be a great find for me.

He looks at it, and see's the price on it. He couldn't believe it was $8... However, it was marked "AS IS."

When he got it home, he took off the rug nozzle, and noticed the switch was covered in debris. Once cleaned, he plugged it and it turned on instantly.

Then he became to taunt me over text messages. I hate when someone goes "I have a gift for you, but I'm not going to tell you what it is." I call it Willophobia as I literally have a fear of receiving gifts.

ANYWAY...

The picture attached to this post is the before picture.

And the after picture (I got this vac a week before Christmas. I've been meaning to post it but totally forgot)

The only real damage on the vac is the bag. On the back, there's a few holes in the bag. Luckily it takes the filter bags.

This thing was barely ever used. It doesn't have that "smell" all vacuums have from coming from another home.

Mother's Mag and Aluminum Polish xD

Like i said, this vacuum was pretty much not used at all. I'm thinking it was shoved in the back of a closet and only received holes from either a lot of rubbing on popcorn wall, or hangers poking the back of it.

It may even have the original filter bag in it. I didn't bother changing it as A... I don't have any of the oval filter bags.

And B, it had the smallest amount of dirt at the bottom.

I think it dates 3/83 but I don't know since it's at my dad's house.

Shiny !

Did you clean and polish the Kirby with Mother's by hand, or with a buffing wheel? I do mine by hand, but can get a wheel for a drill if that gives a better result...and your polish brand sure beats TurtleWax metal polish !

Mine is in the same condition, but no tears in the bag, runs like new, barely used, I paid $5. Mine has had the bag fill tube replaced with a G series, so G series HEPA bags can be used :)

I polished by hand. I was gonna do a drill wheel, but it wasn't bad enough to need it.

I'm gonna replace the fill tube assembly soon. I would love to use the brown paper generation filter bags.

Heritage

That went from good to GREAT!And a good price that can and does still happen at some thrift stores.Do you have a Her II or Legend to compare it to?
