Here is a photo of my new Hoover Z...a $400 vacuum for $75 new in the box! I thought I might preserve one for future vacuum collectors. I have used it...it is what it is...dripping with features. It does clean carpet that much I can say!

Here it is fully grown! It has great suction at the hose end. The brush seems very aggressive. I got a lot of carpet fuzz out of my old carpet! This is the cheap version the "400", they did not have any of the "700" models. This one will do for me. I have had a lot of fun playing with it and running it around the house.

It is something like 28 pounds...it is not particularly quiet but it seems to clean carpet WITH a lot of fanfare!

I hope to get my hands on one of those. I haven't seen them anywhere for sale here in Canada though they do show it on the Hoover Cda website for something like $570 not in my lifetime. Hopefully some will show up NIB at Liquidation World or Xcess Cargo. They don't show the new Connie on the Canadian site which is odd, but then I haven't seen it for sale either here cept in that Home Hardware Christmas catalogue

I can understand why collectors like us would want this machine. It is certainly unique. But I couldn't imagine actually using such a monstrosity, as a customer would. Am I missing something?

Well I've never seen one in person but I can just by looking at it most people would probably be banging into walls, furniture, table tops, shelves etc trying to manouvre it around in the tight spaces. It's so wide all the way up not just near the floor.

Future Collectables.....

Hey Tom

Nice one- cant believe you got it for that price lol!

If you want anything with future rareity/collectable stamped all over it im sure these are gonna be a pretty safe bet !.

Originally we were going to get the 700?? model rebranded Maytag along with the Connie/Satellite- after feedback that didnt happen :( .

i see them on EBay all the time. The Hoover U9125-900 Z™ Bagless Upright Vacuum NEW is $119.00. Was the model you bought bagless. I wonder how it cleans compared to a Kirby.

Seamus...believe me you are not missing anything. This machine cleans well, but it is just too cumbersome for the average user. Like I said before it cleans like a Hoover should!

Jim...this model is bagless. I think that they all were or am I wrong on this one? This is what I dislike most about the machine. It really should have a bag! Otherwise I would just use my 1926 Hoover 700 and shake out the cloth bag after every use. I just don't get this whole bagless thing.

However...this one will be my "new" collectable if nothing else. My sister thought it looked like a robot specifically "Number 5" from "Short Circuit". I had to laugh!

Robot Hoover

Hi Tom

I really liked the look of this as an "alternate" looking vac, pity its not gonna make it...thats where a lot of vacs today fail with the " Form over Function" rule, glad to here it does its job with the agressive pick-up...

Does the pecker thingy sound loud as it flicks the dirt from the cartridge??

Mike

Mike...the pecker thingy is not too loud although you can hear it clicking. Not a terrible machine...I can think of much worse! At least this machine does have some character and I don't think anyone can disagree with that!

Indeed it does, which is why I wanted to have one for my collection before they become rarer then hen's teeth. I bought the model 700. The cleaner is heavy, probably heavier than a new Kirby Sentria. It's unique shape makes it somewhat awkward to transport, but at least it does work well. Can anyone else confirm what Tom Gasko said about how Hoover is selling the ones that get returned to Princess Cruise Lines to be used as anchors?

Ohio...

Hoover is not selling the Z as boat anchors...that is a load of hogwash! He is just pulling you leg I hope you know. The Z just did not work out in the market.

Tom,

Did you review this on amazon? Someonne named "happy consumer" reviewd it and said they got it dirt cheap.

Nope...I got mine from the Hoover Employee Sales Center right here in "sunny" North Canton, OH.
