Great find. I have it's english cousin the 912, they do clean well don't they! Mine vibrates the furniture with nothing more than a new belt.

Also handy to keep by for burgulars. In the UK you're not allowed to shoot intruders, and police will look for a baseball bat nd similar, but who would suspect an old Hoover!

their fab

i have one they do exactly what their suposed to do [clean carpets]and nothing touches them for that it is literally a vac on steroids my grandma used to clean the ODEON cinema in our town with one of these there was miles of thick plush carpet to vac it would be running for a good hour [with the odd break for a cup of tea of course no one wanted to empty it so it would be left till the bag was full .gran told me back in the day people were allowed to smoke in the cinema so ashtrays would be full she would walk round with a paint brush to brush out the ashtrays that were attached to the seats it all went onto the carpet for the Hoover to gobble up .Every 6 months the Hoover man came and serviced the machine gran tells me she worked there for 18 years and only remembers having the one Hoover .The ODEON was demolished in 1972 a new more modern one was built in its place my gran worked in the new building for another 2 years before retiring when going back to work on the first day in the new ODEON there was the old Hoover waiting to start work i always remember her saying to me all that money to build a new cinema skinflints could have bought a new Hoover

Youre right!

They are just about unbeatable!and really, even though they are terribly heavy, they are not hard to operate.

It had a rough life

Upon taking her apart every single blade on the fan was broken, it was packed full of crud from the fan chamber to the bag opening. Included in that crud were nails, button batteries, two small magnets, bits of a ballpoint pen cartridge, plastic wrappers, stones, hairpins, etc. Luckily the bearings on the motor are fine and I had a replacement fan. Other than that she's still a spring chicken!
