The Hoover-ification of Oreck Has Begun

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

Dan,

I apologize. I thought you were responding to me.

As a dealer, I am very excited for whats to come...

The only 'issue' I have with TTi is that they discontinued our RY7910/RY7940 extractor... That was the only extractor we ever fully supported, sold and serviced.

We were hoping that Oreck would get that unit under their label but that was not the case...

I was also hoping for the floormate that Oreck got to be branded under Royal... Oh well...

Again, Dan, I do apologize. I hope you didn't take offense to any of my responses.

Royal self propelled

Hey guys do yall think royal will rebadge the self propelled version of the windtunnel under the royal name like the did the tempo and windtunnel supreme?

Joshua

Please stuff like this doesn't offend me I am just very passionate about TTI brand Hoover Oreck and Royal .

Don't worry even better machines are on the way just you wait to see ;) l know those machines were great some of TTis best our local vacuums shops are upset they are discontinued also .

The Oreck purchase by TTI will bring many exciting vacuums for many years to come and keep Hoover Royal and Oreck around well into the future .

Dan

I agree!!

jaker15, I completely agree. TTI has ruined all those brands. I would like to see a new "oreck" out perform one of my older XL 2's.

Remember the Hoovers of the mid-2000s, before TTI bought them out? Now that was a sad time for Hoover. Their bagless machines, which is what sells these days, were very unimpressive. Plus, with the exception of the Elite, many pre-TTI machines are still for sale. I've been very pleasantly surprised with Hoover since the TTI takeover. You can't really compare a 1935 Hoover with one from 2014. The same is true with most every other brand. No way do the current Aerus Electrolux machines compare to the Model G. "They just don't make em like that anymore"

In my opinion...and experience....

Vax in the UK wouldn't be where they are today without Dirt Devil in the U.S, which in turn through contract agreement, Vax supplied some models to Dirt Devil U.S

After being absorbed by TTI, Vax has become one of the best selling brands in the UK and they offer cost effective products at times dependent on the model in question. Not everything Vax makes is automatically better -their tub canisters, of which I was a fan of have slipped down in plastic build quality these days and Vax have no clear signs of improving them, which is a pity given how solid a Numatic tub vacuum is.

Hoover reskin

This appears to be a slightly re-skinned version of the Hoover Floormate.

It is certainly made in China, not Cooksville. No way they would reshore this thing.

I have some inside information on these sorts of things. I'm not totally up to date, but this is an obvious one.

It's awful, I tried one at my Oreck store last week. The brushes are air powered and barely spin, I'll stick with my floormate deluxe. I was really hoping this would be an improvement over my floormate esp with its longer cord, but it's not. Don't know why they didn't give the brushes their own motor like the floor mates do.

The day of made in China will soon end. I posted a thread around a year ago explaining why, as it has turned out, most of it has come true (I'll try and post a link), although for reasons I didn't foresee. I don't claim to be an economist, but what and who I have worked with, people with connections and working first hand with Chinese, Japanese and Taiwanese businesses, the Chinese are certainly very unique when it comes to business and manufacturing.

A lot of western firms are moving out of China now due to being falsely sued for reason which are very grey. GSK, Mercedes, Audi, GM and Microsoft have been sued for what the Chinese are calling "anti-monopoly laws", or price fixing. Over in the west, this is common practice and in no way wrong or illegal, but the Chinese con and blackmail a lot of western companies for technology, or else they get into a lot of trouble. Qualcomm being an example, they were essentially forced to give a semiconductors chip manufacturer in China details of the patents in their latest 801 chip they use in smartphones. They use their huge market as a threat and decoy, if that makes sense, essentially getting away with whatever they want. Google and Panasonic have now completely pulled out of China, Panasonic will do y the end of 2016.

The Japanese you have to remember, got a lot of technology and teaching from Americans after WW2. The Japanese being democratic, free market economy took what was taught to them and have made a huge company for themselves, selling high quality goods around the world. Similar story with Taiwan. Essentially, it is corruption in China on a scale no one can really measure. What they call corruption, we don't, and what we call corruption, they don't. It is a clash of politics and culture.

Guess we could say the "TTI-ification" of Oreck has begun.Chinese costs are starting to go up-their labor is just beginning to organize. To the US the cost of shipping has gone up.Ships operating into or out of US ports have to burn low sulphur fuel which is VERY expensive.-New EPA regs.
