The haunted toaster aka sunbeam vista

This is my sunbeam vista toaster. My mom calls it the haunted toaster I just restored it one thing I noticed was it had a water line on it must have been in a flooded basement because it has rust . How do I tell the year of it .

Vista

I've heard of Sunbeam Vista mixers but never a Vista toaster. Learn something new every day. A quick online search led me to the thread below on automaticwasher.org. According to the second reply, the Vista appliance line started sometime in the early-mid 1960s. The Vista appliance line was a series of price leader appliance models sold by retailers like True Value Hardware. But the "Vista" nameplate also got re-used later on.

I have a Sunbeam Mixmaster Vista mixer from (I think) the late '70s that's chrome with a brown base. The "Vista" nameplate at that point was a more deluxe entry in the Mixmaster lineup, equipped with a work light on the underside of the power head to illuminate the bowl. Interestingly, the light is un-switched and just comes on immediately when the mixer is plugged in. It's a nice machine, though, especially for the $5 and change I paid for it, sans bowls, at a thrift shop. Definitely a worthwhile find.

It's one of the later ones, probably late 70s, early 80s.

I've got a sunbeam auto toaster but have yet to use it. It's very important to install a grounding wire to them and I have yet to do it so it just sits. I'm aching to use it haha

That's the exact Mixmaster Vista that I have. I only recently acquired the correct stainless steel bowls for it, not that the Fire King glass bowls were exactly a problem.

Sunbeam's Vista Product Line

Sunbeam's Vista Line of Appliances came into being in 1963. At first, it was their economy line, having some of the features of their deluxe models with a more plain appearance and usually were sold at not so upscale places like hardware stores. True-Value hardware stores in particular had them in their Christmas advertising. Product had a more modern look compared to the previous models Sunbeam had at the time especially among their percolator coffee makers, hand mixers, and stand mixers. After about 10 years, the Vista line began have additional features like the stand mixers with work lights and were seen in upscale department stores.

I have a couple of these Vista Mixers

They are very reliable mixers and have almost twice the power of the older models. Nice thing about these is they are so easy to work on. Once you take the top half off you have complete access to all moving parts and the bearings too. Plus you can replace the power cord in no time as it uses a detachable male/female power cord.
