Well, the other one that Dave made went away, so I made another one because I (and Im sure theres others) am still curious about THE first power nozzles-especially for canisters.

well I have always been told that the first for a portable machine was the Lewyt in 1957-58 then the whirlpool and Kenmore in 1958 and Electrolux AF in 1959 followed by Compact C-5 in 1960. I don't know of any others that had power nozzles back then?
 
I've always thought that Air-Way made the first power nozzle, the Air-Way Chief had one and we're talking of the 1930's!

Airway did in fact create the first real power nozzle. Lewyt seems to have the oldest patent design for one on a canister.
