The one thing I did do though was nick the cyclone top handle for myself as it had the re-inforced handle fitted. I put a standard handle on it to sell it with. As you know, many DC07s suffered with broken bin handles, so Dyson released an uprated design late on, but not many DC07's had this, so look out for them as these handles are much better if you can find a Dyson DC07 with one on.

Also notice that the cyclones are de-rooted - the exit holes are bigger than the early models which were prone to the cyclone exits clogging. The early ones affected were easy to spot with the top removed as the cones protruded higher than the rest of the housing. Later ones are cut flush with the top of the outer housing.

I loved doing the DC07 refurbs, but work commitments meant that I cant do them any more, and there wasn't really that much money to be made doing them, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. The market is flooded with people who do up old Dysons now, and prices have come down what people will pay for an old Dyson, so if you do it for a hobby then that's OK, and I hope you build yourself a nice DC07, but don't pay over the odds for bits, because you are young, people can and will take advantage of that, especially at a Car Boot Sale.

Here is an example of an Animal DC07 that was in good nick that I did up and sold for £60 - when the owner had looked after it, it was in good nick but again I paid only £20 for it. The filters were just dirty so it had lost suction.

There is no real way of doing that, but I found that a spray of silicone car bumper shine around the inside of the bin and then wiping it out again seemed to make the bin appear clear enough to sell on. It isn't a long lasting solution though. Most clear bins on cyclonic vacs end up cloudy quite quickly unfortunately.

Perhaps someone else might know a good way of renovating the plastic clear bins?

bek1987 that DC07 chassis interests me!

Please contact me on my main email address: [email protected]

I'm happy to pay £10 or more (as long as under £20 or so). I'll pay you through the post with either a cheque or cash. Not sure yet.

JUST TO MAKE SURE!

- The spine inludes everything in the picture you posted? I.E. the wheels, post motor filter cover minus the filter, cleaner head etc. (Just email me about of the entire list of parts in the spine that come with it like the ones listed)

Hey Tim- I've got a DC07/14 brushroll and soleplate for the clutched model and the hose if you're interested. By the way I live only 2 mins away from Crich tramway village as I saw you had some vids of that on YouTube:)
