Hi All,
Something a little upbeat this time - When I found the new organ had the perfect background for this I could not resist - The worst part was I had to pay almost $18 with shipping for the sheet music that had a pre-printed price of $1.50 back in 1972...

Very nice!!!What kind of "new " organ are you getting?The last time I heard this song played on an organ was when I was at Glen Echo Park and listened to "Candy Man" played on a newly cut roll for their Wurlitzer 165 band organ.

Hi Rex -

This was actually done on the "new" to me organ - I got it a few weeks ago...

It is a Lowrey Stardust SU530 - It was only a few years old, and was in perfect shape..
I had had the Rhapsody almost three years, so it was time for something new...

In Between I had the Roland which I had hated... It was only here less then a week when I told him to come back and pick it up - Sounded nothing like a Lowrey from the tone/sound standpoint...

Hi Gary -
I am sure the style is the same on the Prestige - It is still the same on the Sterling, Liberty, and even the Marquee -
You know Lowrey - They only add, and rarely change...

FYI - I had a bank of three LED's on the far right side of the LED Music Light Strip on the top of the organ out - When the dealer went to order a new strip, Tom at Lowrey tells him they have no more strips in stock even though it was the same exact light strip up to the Imperial - The dealer was stunned...

Common sense tells me that there is Zero Chance that three LED's could go out - Since I am fairly good with electronics, I managed to fix mine myself- Turns out that once I pulled the strip and put it on the Bench, each bank of three LED's is connected to two different value resistors -

The voltage feeding the two light strips for the pull out music rack, and to top rack is 16.4 volt DC -

The resistors on the LED Light Strip drop the voltage down to 3.5 volts per Led - When I checked, one of the resistors had failed - Replaced it with a new one, and all 3 LEDs came back to life -

Since it is only a matter a time before the strip fails again, I am on a quest to find a replacement strip that is the correct size - I will just have to add a few diodes or resistors to drop the voltage down from 16.4v to the 12v that almost all current LED Strips run on these days...

That organ is absolutely beautiful! Makes me wish I knew how to actually play one! Talk about a showpiece by itself! Honestly, if I had something like that in my home, I'd turn it on, turn all the lights off, and admire it like I do my Christmas tree in the winter!!

Dan the Stardust is very nice--what was the difference between the Stardust and Rhapsody?I am afraid these organs are well beyond my pay grade!

Dan that is great that you were able to fix the light strip! I have never done much with electronics so I wouldn't even know where to start. One of the bulbs on the main music rack started to blink so it got annoying. I ordered a new light strip and did receive it. The blinking light eventually quit altogether so I could live with that and I have not installed the new light strip. I'll wait until more of the lights go out....hopefully not for a long time.

These are just a FEW of the differences - There are really to many to list - The Other is the stardust has much more internal memory which allows for more elaborate intros and endings - Most on the rhapsody are 4-measures - most on the Stardust are 8-16 Measures - The voicing on the Stardust is better then on the Rhapsody -
But you get the general Idea -

HI Gary -
I was very lucky in that may father had retired from WCI/Frigidaire where he implemented and maintained the computer systems that ran the injection molding machinery in the plant, as well as most of the computer controlled coil bending machines - He also was a Licensed Electrician so I am also fairly well versed in my houses electrical service - He taught me the basics of electronic trouble shooting - That was how i figured out what was wrong with the strip - NO WAY 3-LEDS burn out at the same time -

What I can't get over is that Lowrey can not get anymore of the LED Strips from the Vendor - From what I was told they had a very high failure rate - One theory is that static electricity from turning the pages is part of the reason for the failures -

I guess when they finally fail, you are supposed to buy a new organ !!!

I wonder what light strips are being used on the Marquee? I thought they were the same as the Stardust, Prestige, Imperial, etc.
