To properly use a Rainbow

Fill the pan with water to the top of the post in the middle. Then put the top on, making sure that the seperator is on finger tight. Vacuum untill you see that the water is getting dirty. CHange the water when it starts looking too dirty, don't let it get any darker than the wood grain's color. Most Rainbow service centers recommend changing the water after every 2-3 rooms. When you are done vacuuming, wash the basin and the seoerator (thing on the bottom of the vacuum motor that turns). Dry the seperator well and put it back on. Don't ever store the vacuum on the basin unless it has dried for a few days.

Actually the Rainbow water dust pan should not be stored on the Rainbow powerdome even if its dry-the rubber seal can stick to the container and be torn when you remove it from the powerdome.Rainbow dealers point this out.And I have seen Rainbows stored assembled-but dry with the seal problem.the vac tech has to replace the rubber seal on the bottom of the powerdome-where it rests on the water-dust container.

Oh...

and NEVER forget to put the separator back in the machine!! Trust me, I would know! lol...I forgot...it was the worst scene I had ever seen...black water spewing forth from the machine...gosh...(*crying*) lol, but seriously: DON'T FORGET!!

~~K~~

Yes-thats another point-always put the separator back on the powerdome motor shaft after cleaning it.Otherwise WATER and dirt can get into the motor!!On Rainbow "E" sereies machines they state the separator is "self cleaning" on these-you don't have to remove and clean it as much.I check it-and the new design of it stays cleaner. You may have to take it off once in a while to clean it or unwrap hair that could get in it.

I usually do wipe off the gasket flange behind the separator after each use. I have seen to many with nasty buildup there that just a quick wipe would have removed.

I see you got the Rainbow SE, what attachments did you get with it?

Rainbows...

I have to admit, I absolutely love my Rainbow. Despite the water factor, I find it quite easy to use and maintain. There is something that is satisfying about seeing and dumping the "mook and yitka" after vacuuming. Of course, there are things that are better left for other vacuums; cat litter, Christmas tree tinsel.

Enjoy your Christmas present, Daniel!
